Just my 2 cents is that Valdosta got what they deserved by firing a coach that got you a state championship and hiring Propst. I have done a lot of research on the program. Read “Must Win”, watched a”title town” and dig up a lot of articles over the year. I was fascinated with Valdosta football for years until I read “Must Win” and then saw how they fired Rodemaker. They have won 2 state titles since Nick Hyder died in 1996 and both of those coaches have gotten fired. I admire a win at all costs approach to a point but Valdosta seems to throw caution to the wind.

Certainly a big game from a historical perspective but, in all seriousness, is this game expected to be an epic battle? I’d have Massillon in the top ten in Ohio regardless of division. Valdosta did not make the maxpreps top 25 for the state of Georgia (for whatever that’s worth). Georgia is a far deeper state these days in terms of talent than Ohio, and Valdosta surely has a number of D1 prospects, but is there any reason to believe Massillon should not be a healthy favorite here?

Who knows? The competitive environments are so different between the two states that it's almost impossible to make an apples-to-apples evaluation. It's unlikely that either team stinks, and that's about all you can go with.

Good teams don't guarantee good games; bad teams don't guarantee bad games. I'd just like to see a big crowd, an entertaining game, and no one carried off on a stretcher.

High school football in the south is on a completely different level, in terms of speed and overall talent. Unless you are matching up D1 or 2 teams in Ohio with a school that has a couple hundred boys. Massillon has the home field advantage with a huge crowd behind them and Valdosta has to travel. It might be clear early on how this game goes if the Tiger OL can’t contain the Valdosta DL and LB’s.

TIG! Go get it boy's.

My Eagles have played a number of Florida teams over the years and, yes, the speed is always impressive (even among the smaller division schools). I do feel the coaching and discipline of Ohio's top programs tend to be a great equalizer. Good luck to you guys and see you in week 5.

Anyone have any idea how many tickets have been sold? Curious if there is an estimate to what size crowd they are expecting.
