I’m really looking forward to this game. I don’t think Troy has seen a defense like Tipp’s. Not going to guarantee any wins here but I will guarantee that these Troy boys haven’t ever been hit as hard as they will be hit on Friday. By 10:00 Friday night we will know who the boys and men are of Miami County. Horns up!

BTW…This will be a packed house so I’d encourage Troy fans to get there early. Hopefully next season we will have our capacity up with the new seating.

Is Tipp still playing their home games in that park next to the swimming pool?

You shorted Wards rushing yards by 100 lol

Tipp city park is no Taj Mahal but it is a very cool atmosphere. It gives a true “Friday night lights” feel. The stands (although small) will be packed and since the field is so close to the walkways, you will have fans surrounding the entire field. I know the players and coaches are very proud of the traditions that happen at city park.

I'm going to guess the Toledo Central Catholic scrimmage prepared them for Tipp better than you think.

Since Tipp still doesn’t have their long-term bleacher plan in place, visitor seating is minimal. If Troy brings a remotely large crowd, there will be a lot of standing room only on the visitor side. Piqua had minimal seating when they came to the park last year. The entire bleacher funding and implementation has been a total cluster in Tipp City. Honestly, it’s kind of embarrassing that all these other MVL schools have nice, large stadium seating (Fairborn getting new stadium next year) and Tipp packs them in like sardines.

I got kind of a "Hickory Hoosiers" vibe myself, last time I was up there......kinda like back in the old days days when we used to slide some bleachers into the outfield grass of the baseball field, throw down some chalk lines, prop up a couple goal posts and play us a little football.

Sorry but I don't care what the surrounding scene looks like. Tipp's stadium is a dump right now. I want to be higher than ten feet off the ground to watch a football game. Sitting that low gives you awful site lines. If anything happens in the corners of the field on your side you can't hardly see what happens. I never understood standing along the fence. You can't see a damn thing. As good as this team has been they deserve better.

Tipp city is an upper middle class community but small. Therefore, they are given next to nothing in state funding. Tipp has several school buildings in shambles right now and a stadium going on the levy is next to impossible. Throw in a school board that has 2 lunatics and this is what you get. Tax payers are unwilling to donate to the stadium project because of uncertainty with how the funds will be spent, and because tipp has very high property tax.

I disagree when you say you can't see by standing around. I have stood in the north end zone for years and I love it. If you think the stadium is bad now, you should've seen it 5 years ago.

I did. And I bet most on here did too. Yes, it's better, and I'm glad they're improving it. But it was a downright dump then. That grass field before the turf wasn't worthy of letting animals graze on it. So they had no where to go but up. Still inexcusable they have such small seating. Can only imagine the $$$ the athletic department has missed out on considering how good they've been recently.

I remember before it was turf, the grass field literally started sloping off at the corners of the endzone, so you'd be almost looking uphill standing behind the fence in the endzones.

Also, RIP to the giant tree ominously overlooking the north endzone that died a few years back.

Tipp had a field that was basically a cow pasture like Milton. Both had terrible turf. Both have replaced their turf and Tipp seems to be taking football serious. There was a time when Tipp was a basketball school.

Spot on! We will never have the biggest stadium in the area but the environment and atmosphere is unmatched if you ask me. I’ve talked to coaches who tell me while they love the history and enjoy playing there they also hate playing there because it’s a tough environment for visitors. What we might lack in capacity we more than make up for in noise, intensity and intimidation.

That tree was legend! I actually have a pretty neat photograph of my cousin Larry and I as kids sitting in that tree watching Tipp play back in 67-68.

Why is this Troy thread about Tipps field ?
Back on the topic I am giddy for this game. Most outside of Tipp don’t give the Devils a snowballs chance in Hades but if you know Burgbacher these are exactly the games that he loves. Nobody knows Troy better than coach and I am always captivated by the way he unlocks something in these boys each week. He gets them to dig deeper and deeper and they would run through a cement wall for him. Tipp will win this 27-21.

There was an active shooter threat today at Troy. Authorities were called and apparently it was a false alarm. However traumatized students are leaving school for the day. Not sure it will have an impact on this game or not. We’ll see. But If kids don’t play I can’t say I blame them. What a world we live in…

Something tells me that Troy will exorcise some demons on Friday. Trojans roll 52-6
