As most have seen on the news about Circleville High School's Addison Edgington and her recovery back to the court. I wanted to highlight her prowess on the basketball court as well, please see below the write-up I did for the sporting pumpkin a few days before her crash, and if you haven't look her story up!

Edgington Drops 31 on Hamilton Township

Obetz-Circleville was in control from the tip on the way to defeating Hamilton Township 66-37 to stay unbeaten on the season.

Leading the way for the fifth-ranked Tigers was freshman Addison Edgington, who had eight in the first, eight in the second, and eight in the third and was only a missed free throw away from eight more in the fourth as she poured in 31 points. She also grabbed 11 rebounds.

“We wanted to focus on skipping the basketball to get them moving and overextending on one side and get it to Addison, and because of her size advantage, I think she did a terrific job finishing tonight,” Circleville coach Brian Bigam said.

Faith Yancey put in 12 for Circleville, with Gabby McConnell adding 10 and Maddie Blakeman adding nine.

“When we play unselfish like we did tonight, we can be fun to watch offensively,” Bigam said.

The Tigers began the night’s scoring with two consecutive Edgington baskets to take the early lead. Circleville added three from Gabby McConnell and a pair of free throws from Edgington. Hamilton’s lone scoring in the first came from two Jersey Baker free throws. Circleville added a McConnell free throw along with baskets from Edgington and Maddie Blakeman Faith Yancey to give the Tigers a 16-2 lead.

Circleville’s defense limited the Rangers to only five shots from the field in the first quarter.

Things changed a bit in the second quarter as the Rangers were matching scores with the Tigers, prompting Circleville to call a timeout with the score 25-12.

“I give Hamilton credit; they exposed a couple of things in our zone, and they hurt us a bit on the corners, but we readjusted,” Bigam said.

Circleville outscored HT 11-3 the rest of the way to lead 36-15 at the half.

With eight from Edgington, seven from Yancey, and a bucket from Blakeman, Circleville extended its lead to 53-24 heading into the final period.

“We are going to enjoy the win tonight, then get in the gym tomorrow, do some light conditioning, and get some shots up, then begin preparing for defending league champion Teays Valley and get ready for a tough one on Saturday,” Bigam said.

Adding to the rivalry, Saturday night will be the last time the Tigers (15-0, 10-0) face the Vikings (9-6, 7-2) as Mid-State League foes.
