That is true, if you're fast you're fast. Doesn't matter what sport you play in the spring. But I will say this. You get faster by running, by training. That is how track will help your football program. If you are fast you will get faster, and if you are not fast it will definitely help you in getting faster.

True if an individual trains as well during the summer at running.

Not sure what track success has to do with football. ML has some football players running track, some play baseball, some play no spring sports. As far as big pt. getters graduating on the track team, Nate Buschur (football), Tate Hess (football), Owen Rindler (did not play football last year). Jack Knapke who won discus, Schoen who won 400 both are jrs. neither play football. Lause and Heitkamp who finished 1 - 2 in Jr. High MAC Championships in the 100, in 21 both play baseball. ML's success in track is similar to football good athletes but also good depth, just taking a guess but the Flyers probably have the biggest (or 2nd biggest) track team in the MAC. The Flyers won 5 individual events at the MAC Championships: 200 (Buschur sr.), 400 (Schoen jr.), PV (Buschur), LJ (Otte jr.), discus (Knapke jr.). Of those 4, 2 played football.
Good detailed information!
ML also has the biggest track fans. A lot of athletes with a lot of parents and grandparents supporting the blue and gold.
Has ML ever won State in track?

Saw this on another thread and thought it makes sense here too

Anyone know what this was about? I assume it is on having too many fall female sports. My guess is soccer will be gone or small chance Volleyball. Too few kids for 4 fall sports plus cheerleading.

I don't think it's just fall sports. They don't have a softball team, don't believe they had a JV girls basketball team the past two years, etc...believe soccer has been the healthiest of the fall sports. Low numbers on girls golf team, low numbers in volleyball.

Unfortunately it’s not limited to DSJ. Unbelievably, one of the largest MAC schools, Coldwater, didn’t have JV volleyball team and could barely field a varsity softball team this year. They were very good at both, but it’s a sign of the times that interest is so low even with so many students in the school.

Looking at roster pictures.
16 - Soccer players
13 - V-ball players but only 7 in JH pic
8 - Girls Golf
13 - XC
That is a very large % of the girls that play a fall sport and that doesn't count the competitive cheer team they have. All but seem ok right now but V-ball with no JV is a problem. XC is actually in good shape for that small of school. I think they see a problem coming due to participation at younger levels. I don't think an individual sport like golf would be cut as don't need a certain number to play.

11 girls on basketball roster (10 on JH)
21 girls for track 11 in JH.

Sad night for Minster softball last night.. anyone there care to share their 2 cents on the game ending double play? I hear it was quite controversial...

didn't parkway win by 4 runs? not sure how that's all that controversial.

Reach out to coach Hemmelgarn and see if he thinks it was controversial.. hell, ask any of the fans that were there.. they all seemed to think it was rigged..

Not controversial. Way it was explained to me was infield fly was called by all 3 umpires which is automatic out that made it 2 outs, therefore when that’s called baserunners go at their own risk and girl probably panicked and ran for Minster. Thrown out at 3rd for our 3 when she didn’t need to run at all. Seems pretty simple when it was explained to me.

My comment was more geared toward whatever the Wapak homer's username is that said Hemmeglarn felt it was controversial and rigged.
i wasn't at the game, but have ran into a few people who were there, and they never brought the play up, they were just disapointed in the season ending so soon.. like most fans would be... Good luck to the Panthers... i mean, they have a VERY good softball program...

There's video here. You can't ever see the umpires when the ball is in the air (not saying they didn't call it, just saying you can't see them in the video).

Looks like the kids didn't know the rules. That's not the umps faults. Maybe Robb should do a little mirror-looking before blaming other people.
Yup you can clear as day see both coaches throwing a fit immediately following the play...
