Marlington Dukes Head Coach

I was an offensive guy so I don't have much to say about Coach Lude other than my scout team offensives shredded his first team D every week.

But yes, there's an army building that it's time for a different approach to the football program at Salem. I'm not alone. We'll see how hot the seat gets after another mediocre, under performing season for the Quakers.

So you wouldn’t hire Coach Lude?

I have no ill towards Coach Lude, he's not the one responsible for the celebrated mediocrity in Salem.

but yes, I am Sad
Maybe you are too young to remember one and two win seasons, and seasons with .500 records when they were supposed to be better. Kopachy and Johnson made Salem competitive, and even got them into the playoffs along with a few playoff victories after 35+ years without an appearance in the post season. Do you really want to take a chance on bringing in a new staff that might turn Salem into bottom feeders again? Winning coaches are not easy to find. RJ may not be everyone's favorite, but if he keeps Salem in the hunt every year, I'm fine with keeping him.

(Oh, and I apologize for hijacking the Marlington thread.)

The community is still in love with the stoner who was the coach before him, they had actually hired Dave Rach who stepped down two months into the job which led to them hiring Jay Lude. I think it's more of a Western Reserve problem than a coach problem
Yep, I don’t have the energy to go through it all again. Long story short. Board wanted to go in another direction and schemed to bring Andy back from the day he took the job. It is the worst kept secret in town. The same board that featured several family members of coaches Coach Lude did not keep on staff and parents of starters who didn’t have enough stats. They lost to Springfield 4 times and JFK over a 2 year stretch. They were not capable of playing at a state championship level during the 15 months he was there, so they let him go. He had a lot of support in the community and the family has strong roots. It is why people still bang the drum for him. We all support the new coach, we would just like to see the last one get another shot.

Mount Union announced today that Kyle Miller has been promoted to Special Teams Coordinator. While that obviously doesn't preclude him from still taking the Marlington job, I would think Mount Union promoted him as an incentive to stay.

It feels like literally no names are attached to this job. Lude has been mentioned, but that feels more like old supporters and maybe old staff members pushing it

How do you hear the county the guy works in and not get his name?
A friend‘s daughter came home from school and said they are having a meeting on Thursday or Friday to meet the new coach … when he asked who it was all she remembered was he was from a small Wayne County school … didn’t remember the name or the school … sorry
