Long time area scout in Wester Ohio, Roger Janeway, passed away over the weekend in a message from his brother Don.

He had been battling some health issues for quite some time now.

If you have been around HS baseball in Western Ohio for more than a minute you likely ran into the name. He had been on 700 WLW sports talk over the years and was a staple scouting the area for decades.

He would reach out to us each summer asking if we felt we had anyone, or had seen someone locally, he should come see. 98% of the time he was already aware of the kid but he was always grateful for the information to be pushed his way and he told us he didnt trust a lot of people because most had an agenda when passing him names but he respected our opinions and that always meant quite a lot.

Mr. Janeway had been involved in scouting for as long as I can remember and you be rest assured any HS talent in the region for quite a long time he was out there to see.

RIP Rog, RIP. A Champion for baseball players all over the area.
