The Wild Card

Will GlenOak show maturity learning how to deal with success coming off a big win at McKinley and handle their business as they take a 3 game win streak on the road to Perry Twp?

Will Perry slow their momentum down and find a way to prevent the Eagles from clinching their 1st winning regular season since 2016? Always respect Perry as a program and can typically count on them having tough kids.

Who you got? Keep it clean. Go Eagles! 🦅

its Perry and GlenOak, anything can happen, this game is usually a solid hard fought game.

I'll take the Golden Eagles 14-10

Would the fans come out to watch a rematch? Saw some pictures of the game last Friday, and the home stands were embarrassingly empty.
Maybe, maybe not. The comment you quoted of mine I was speaking for myself and nobody else.

Logic tells me that interest should spike for what it’s worth? Playoffs, by nature a bigger game. If it’s hypothetically 2nd round maybe a bigger draw because more teams are done playing leaving more opportunities for neutral interest in attendance. Location also helps. A venue like Bob Commings or a neutral of similar size or smaller definitely helps look more full.

A rematch in benson will naturally look more like keeping a small school of 5 White Cloud minnows in a very large fish tank that’s 30+ gallons. (Fresh off looking at fish so that analogy is close to the mind 😂)

Ed please never say those words again. 1971 we lead by 2 and Perry snaps our 11 game winning streak with a late FG. I think you graduated a year or two before.
OMG, Eagle_62, remember that game well! I graduated the summer of 71….so I had a lot friends on that team. You guys upset us my senior year (70) on the 44th st. field. In 71 Jeff Musser kicked the FG with 19 seconds left. Tim Fox had a long TD run in that game. Our TE Paul Ciecelczyk made an incredible catch between two defenders on your sideline that kept that winning drive alive. That was a heck of game.

In your senior year we did something very similar to this years Eagles. We started out 1-4 then won our last 5 games, in that stretch we beat both the FED co-champs Perry and Louisville. The following year we lost two games..... Perry and Louisville.

Ironically your win over Louisville in 70, which I think was a Tim Fox FG, and our win over Louisville week 9, propelled us to a Federal League Co-Championship.
I remember slamming my helmet into the end of a row of lockers at Glenwood in 70 after that game. I came home that night and slammed my fist into my bedroom door….smh…lol. My Mom wasn’t happy with me and I had sore knuckles for a couple days. Going to films that following Saturday morning was not fun. I know this, it made us resilient and we were not going to be denied against Jackson the next week & Louisville the following week. The shame was, if not for a fumble on Hoover’s 3 yard line in week two, we would have beaten them too and would have won the league outright.
Some memories never leave you….lol.

I don't remember that game as well but Steve Fox was our kicker. It was great rehashing 50 year old memories and to the rest of you please forgive us we're old.

Great memories for you guys for sure - lot of us have those memories.... and they get better and better every year (decade) lol

My Take on this game:
GlenOak win last week impressed me the most - that they held Pups to 3 points - Wow!
Panthers are going to play hard as always!
Can GO stop the Wing T (which they haven't seen all year)
Can Perry stop the Flyers from GO (those kids are fast)

So lets go GO 28-14

If GlenOak D plays like they did against the Dogs for 4 qts. And the Offense can play like they did for the last 8 minutes of the game. IMO the Eagles will be hard to stop..
HOWEVER, with that said!!
I seen a lot of Perry GlenOak games and I think this could still be close..
GlenOak 14 Perry 10

Will they come out flat is the key here. The GO D has been very good against the run lately. On paper GO should win by 2 scores but you never know. Hope the kids aren't celebrating their recent success too much. GO is well put together right now for a little run here with 30 seniors and lots of speed, physicality and now believing.

I'm very happy for GlenOak, what a turnaround it has been for them (and the extra L2 points they've given to Green have been nice also)! No one deserves a winning season more than the Golden Eagles. However, I'm rooting for a Panther win here, because if they lose, there's a pretty good chance that Perry will end up facing either Green or Lake in the first round. Unselfishly, I don't want Federal League teams to be forced to play one another in the first round because that gives more teams a chance to go farther in the playoffs and selfishly, I don't want my Bulldogs to have to play Perry again!

It would not surprise me if Perry won this game.
Me neither. Anyone can beat anyone in the Fed. It makes for a fun regular season.

Incidentally, Slates is 2-15 vs. the Fed. A win in this game would increase both the program's Fed and regular season win totals in each of his 1st 3 seasons. A win could also secure them a favorable playoff matchup and possibly a 1st round home game.

I don't think Green would have too much to worry about if they draw Perry in the playoffs. Just my opinion.

I think we would win if we played them a second time, especially at home. Probably should have won the first time. But for some reason our offense played its worst game of the year against the Panthers.

On the other hand, we did manage to beat Hoover for only the third time ever. It's been a weird year in the Federal League.

It’s never not weird. Something goofy always happens every year. Perry’s unexplainable win was McKinley the past several years. This year it was Green. Should’ve beat Hoover and SVSM but I’m just happy Perry won a close one.

Does anyone know how many years now that Glenoak and Perry have played in week 10. Always seems to be a good game. Watched both teams this year and have to take Eagles by 9
