Teays Valley coach Trevor Younkin says, "It's going to be a battle. Canal beat Lancaster by three last week. They are a different team than when we saw them the first time; we have to be ready for anything they throw at us." Younkin also acknowledged the potential for a rematch in the tournament, saying, "I think they may be thinking they may have let one slip by last time; they're also in our district pool for tournaments so we could run into each other again."

In their previous matchup on December 20th, Teays Valley emerged victorious with a 44-31 win over Canal Winchester. The Vikings will look to replicate this success and secure another win in the OCC Buckeye division. In that game, Tessa Horsley and Areyana Karshner led the Vikings' charge, scoring 11 points each. Meanwhile, Canal Winchester was paced by Isabelle Kemper, who scored 10 points.
