Also, my favorite part of going “Drew based” (aside from not having to ***imagine the score) is that nothing anyone says or thinks computes in the math. And every year, people argue with it as if emotion is a qualifying integer.

Lowellville might break the scoreboard against TCC. We know their HC doesn't call off the dogs. So if the weather is good, they might see if they can hit 100.
 
I actually am happy with the FCA/Danville game happening, and hope the free verse pray-er’s prove everyone wrong by keeping it within a somewhat respectable margin.

They will likely lose, but their coach wanted the opportunity to play a blue blood. The motivation is as pure as it is inconvenient: “we could’ve played someone else who is our size that was open, but that doesn’t make us a better program in the long term. Playing someone else instead could’ve gotten the wrong message across to the kids. It’s a privilege to be out on the field with a powerhouse and line up across them. It is going to be a very tough game for us to win, but it serves a purpose to seek out competition that our kids can learn from. If we have aspirations as a program and a community to keep building off of the momentum and what was accomplished last year, that requires learning what we’re made of in a game like this and immediately afterwards.”

Plenty of respect to him as a coach that I’ve gotten to know. He was an assistant during that infamous 0-30, took the reins two seasons after that in 2021. He’s one of the hardest working guys I’ve met in a decade that’s over on the coaching side of things; a strong determination in trying to change the culture for the better, and making sure bad habits are rinsed out with a mentality that the road to success is possible — but it requires work.

They don't have the offense that they did last year. They are trying to run a wing-t ish run based O. They won't score 100.

And, alas, the curse of last Saturday is for all we know the kids and their folks do probably think that they are the GSoT, and that I’m a moron who doesn’t know anything.
 
I’m not out here to affirm unrealistic ideas and misguided beliefs when all three games I saw last year tells me the exact same thing: the offense was a mess, it has several glaring issues that keep it from working and the moment screw-ups happen is when the game runs downhill — and downhill fast. 😤😡😤😡😡

Caution be damned. It’s a fun offense to watch regardless of if it’s working. 😂:cool:

Can understand an exhausted alumni’s (that see’s a lot of good ball) frustrations. But that game was fun to watch.

Last year, except for one specific game (look at their 2022 page on Eitel for a clue as to which one) they were exclusively in 00, 01 and 10 personnel. One of the issues was how obvious they were telegraphing to one specific kid the entire time, as he was (although not anymore this year) the only dude who can play. Now, that particular player is indeed very talented and legitimately could have seen the field for Lancaster (!) as early as last year on offense. But, again, it only works as well as what a second receiver and a safety valve (either RB or third option) can do — and there wasn’t a whole heck of a lot. Combine that with a line that really doesn’t have the foot quickness nor hand quickness to form a pocket and a QB who is not by any means tall, and the bricks are falling.

The thing that they have this year, that actually gives them more of a chance to be successful, is #2 (their PR, their second option at WR who caught that bomb for the first score) — a kid who had never played high school football before and is basically their best all-around athlete (and he was probably their best hooper last year, despite never playing high school basketball before.)

Yes. It is at least a fun offense to watch, even when it doesn’t work. It’d be more fun if their coach wasn’t someone who committed 21 out of 25 years of his adult life to his alma mater, returning to teach (21 years) and coach (17 years as an assistant under 7 different coaches before finally having the keys of the car handed over to him just as the engine hit the 300K milestone) because that man deserves better than an 0-10 and to have to go through the soul-consuming frustration of undignified defeats, when I and everyone else in the alumni ranks know damn well he’d rather be running the football the same way that was the program hallmark of the 90’s and 00’s if he had just even close to the same working conditions that previous coaches were afforded. By no means does that mean we’d replicate those glory years, but we’d be a lot closer to that respectable middle.

That is why it’s exhausting. I’m happy that the kids finally have something to kill the demons that come with the losing streak, but at the same time I just have the worst feeling in the world that the ‘feels’ and resulting affirmation of said feels from a game where TCC didn’t even contain is going to trump the better impact that SHOULD come with “we won, but that doesn’t mean Monday isn’t another day to work harder and have our upperclassmen lead by action.”
 
No one taking the Dawgs to cover ehh.....Moggy managed to put a whopping 21 pts up against Ravenna - against the Dalton defense that probably prorates down to about 3 pts. Which means we only need to score 3 TDs to cover.....hmmm....I know how I'm picking this game....

Is this what we have to look forward to the rest of the season? Dalton is Rodney Dangerfield because no one is picking them to give Mogadore their 2nd worst beating in 4 years? 🤣 Good thing we aren't picking money lines, you'd probably be enraged at the number of folks that might have picked Mogadore to win.

I LOVE what their doing with their schedule, and think they are the class of the region, but the best team they've beaten in the last 10 years was Lucas in 2021. If they win Friday (regardless of if they cover) you could make the argument this is the best team they've beaten.
 
DALTON - CasualFan sold me!

SPRINGFIELD - Regional Finalist Contender. I'll take them outright

HILLSDALE - Was sold on them before last week. Even more so now.

LUCAS - Smithfield gets all of the wrath from weeks 1 and 2

DANVILLE - I hear they are pretty good

SOUTH RANGE - Big spread, but they roll JFK

EAST CANTON - Toronto only beat them by 30 something and they have a roster of D1 players and a moonlighting, content creating coach

CALVERT - Lose, but cover

MALVERN - They aren't the top tier of the region, but they are a really good football team

WEIR - I can't pick Toronto or Lowellville

TCC - I can't pick Toronto or Lowellville

McDONALD - The return of McDonald football is here

SENECA EAST - Just throwing days here

COLUMBIANA - They'll hang around.... then lose by 2

ADA- Good solid team

PLYMOUTH - Good solid league
