If this game was in Cleveland, I would say for sure VASJ. Youngstown is a very tough place to win. With that said, I think this will be one of the best games in the state on Friday.

Who does Ursuline have to beat to gain credibility?
We are now in DIII and are still a threat. We are a Co-Ed school with 500 kids and we can compete with any school in this state with the exception of a hand full of D1/2 powerhouses. We lost by two points to Walsh who basically is running the table in NEO.

So by your logic state championships don’t count unless we verify with you?
 
If Ursuline makes some decent adjustments they should be ok. My concern is point production. VASJ made us earn every point. We need to be sound and not have penalties. We also need to be not as reckless with the ball. In the first meeting we couldn’t put much together.

I think Ursuline has been effective with adjustments for the most part, so I think the edge will go to the Irish.

Both teams need to cause turnovers

You’re taking the opposite of what I said. I’m a follower and fan of Ursuline. I personally know all the guys behind the curtain - DO, KM, JV as well as the others. Wasn’t a pick against them. On the other hand DI and DII are what everyone has an interest and Ursuline and Mooney proved there guts by putting together great regular season schedules and they couldn’t do nothing being D6,5,whatever. Definitely more interesting in DIII, where there’s pretty good competition so hopefully The U does well.

I think Hoban wins the rematch in a one score game. Bene and Ursuline are nice wins for sure but running NEO is a stretch but I can also see how you could come to that conclusion. One thing I’m sure we agree on, the postseason is heating up!
 
If Ursuline cleans up the penalties from the first game and doesn't give up the big play, I think that they win comfortably. What did they have like 5 false starts in the first half? The DB bit on a fake for a long TD. I don't think St. Joes had any long sustained drives in the first game.
 
Vikings must contain the QB. They did a pretty good job of that last time. Also think time of possession and keeping the Ursuline offense off the field will be critical. Special teams need to be perfect. Easier said than done.
 
Don't forget VASJ was inside the 5 late in the game with a chance to take the lead and did not score. These are two very evenly matched teams.

Ursuline's carelessness with the football kept this game closer than it should've been. Ursuline had two first half turnovers, one of which was a fumble I believe inside the ten-yard line.
 
Cleveland Villa Angela & Youngstown Ursuline --- two very similar student populations with deep Ursuline traditions. Add to that the long time winning traditions at both schools. St. Angela Merici won't know who to root for, plus both Youngstown & Cleveland have parishes named for her. It's great that both programs will be part of the new Ohio Catholic league along with Watterson, Hartley, DeSales, SVSM, Walsh Jesuit, & Cardinal Mooney. It'll be fun to see how that all comes together in 2026.
