Cleveland Guardians

Some of us have been Cleveland sports fans for too long - haha. Heck, the Cavs won an opening round series in 1976, lost the conference finals and it’s still called “The Miracle of Richfield” and is regarded as a high moment…a major accomplishment…in Cleveland sports history. Some of us will always be shell-shocked, but we will always be hoping for the win.
Well said.

I understand. Growing up in Columbus, I've been fans of the Browns and Reds since 1968. Got to experience the Big Red Machine years, but since 1990 I've been mostly on the losing side. And my favorite team (NHL Columbus Blue Jackets) is not a winner either. Still, I try to approach every season with an attitude "this is the year!". I think this year's Guardians team just seems special.

Royals go up 1-0 in the series with the Orioles. AL Central flexing its muscles today.

The AL Central was the only division in MLB to have 4 teams finish the regular season with winning records. Of course the 5th team was historically bad at 80 games under .500. It would be nice to see 3 Central teams in the 4-team ALDS.

GO GUARDS!

Will Screwball go on three day’s rest?
If the series is on the line do you think they would pitch Skubal on three days rest, or save him for a possible winter meeting trade, like CLE did with Bieber in 2022? My guess is DET figures out how to pitch Skubal twice in the series if they need it. There is no next year.

You might be right there.

Saturday would be short rest, but would be available for game 4. Monday would be full rest, and full rest for game 5. I'd throw him game 1

Wish Houston could have gotten 1 of the 3 but I prefer playing Detroit. Hopefully I don't eat those words. They are hot right now but familiar. Houston seems to have always had our number.

Agreed on both. It's Detroit's first time in the playoffs in a decade, why not do everything you can to win? Don't make the same mistake the Guards did with Bieber. You only have so many chances as a small market team, we have been spoiled and blown it every time.

Agreed - they will almost certainly throw Skubal game 1, unless he vocalizes not feeling rested/ready. The kid is a horse and they will ride him.

If I have to face him, my preference would be to face him in Cleveland than in Detroit, which is a much more difficult park for hitters.

And aces don’t always pan out. Nobody pitched better in 2020 than Shane Bieber, but the Yankees didn’t seem to care as they were using him for batting practice in the playoff series.
