CHL Football 23

70+ regular season win streak is no accident......There most certainly is an element of softer scheduling and a softer conference schedule leaving less room than many for non-conf. games. The games Wyoming wants are probably not the ones they can get. The ones they can get, Wyoming probably doesn't want and therefore does not. (Wyoming is certainly a great team year in and year out and therefore will find it more challenging to find equal teams that will want to play them but certainly their are better and bigger schools that would add them. I just do not think Wyoming would add games where they would be the underdog) Hence the 70 game win streak.
This alleged pattern of behavior just does NOT comport with the recent decision to add larger division schools with excellent records just last year-- there is NO WAY Wyoming's AD (or coach) could have predicted the falloff in BOTH Ross and Monroe this year-- especially Monroe, which has traditionally been a pretty consistently strong program-- scheduling both of those games would have been deemed an unnecessary (and, if your claim is true, unwanted) risk to that regular season winning streak... I just don't think that consideration is motivating Wyoming's scheduling right now.

That would only explain 2 out 70. I will give you that it appears they dipped their toes in the right direction a bit this year but it was predictable that neither Ross or Monroe would be favorites this year against a team like Wyoming. They can certainly try harder IMHO.

Well it's not football news BUT the lady yellow jackets volleyball team clinched the CHL Championship last night! It ends a 13 year run for Wyoming.

The freshmen and junior class for the lady jackets is LOADED

It was a question. Does Wyoming schedule teams that are likely to keep their streak alive or teams that will simulate playoff opponents? Nobody said they should play Moeller. They obviously aren’t going to schedule losing programs but they probably are pretty sure they will beat the teams they schedule. It’s just a topic for conversation. Didn’t expect angry responses. 😁
McNicholas has easily the toughest schedule in R16 ranked #14 of 105 D4 schools in Ohio. Here are some others:

Fenwick. 28
Alter 23
Clinton Massie 33
Eaton 56
Wyoming 58
Indian Hill 70

That's (based on the run) a BIGGER upset of the established order than somebody taking the CHL football title from Wyoming... I had no idea that Wyoming's girls volleyball was that dominant (in the CHL)...

They didn't just win 13 straight titles; during the run they were 181-1 in the conference. The only loss was to Taylor in 2020.

Well, the end of the line for Wyoming athletics must be near-- first they lose the CHL girls' volleyball title; next, Indian Hill is (allegedly) brewing up an arse-whuppin' for the Wyoming football team this season-- before you know it, Wyoming is going to be known as "East Finneytown"...

I agree! Football and Vball have been owned by the Cowboys the last 10+ years!

Softball is on year 6 w/ Taylor taking the crown and they have won 82 straight CHL games in that period (last loss was to Deer Park in 2016)

I am going to work on a little #'s here to see what sports have been dominated by whom say in the last 10 years. I am going to put together a list by school/sport just b/c I am bored at work LOL!

Wyoming boys won 9 consecutive track titles from 91-99.
Madeira girls won 7 cross country titles from 93-99
Wyoming boys won 10 swimming titles starting in 2010
Reading won 12 wrestling titles in a row
The longest streak was Indian Hill boys tennis winning the first 23 CHL titles.
My personal favorite is not the longest but Taylor is the only school to win 5 consecutive boys cross country titles. (And one or both of my sons were on each one 😁)

Enjoyed seeing the history of championships-- thanks for this!

Wyoming is not the same team they have had the past decade. Prater and Hester Era's are over and there isn't any kids like them in the pipeline.
You mean they don't have 2 of the best players to ever play for the school, and 2 of the best HS players in the state in the pipeline? And which school in your opinion has an Evan Prater and CJ Hester in the pipeline?

Watched it 2 or 3 times over the course of his middle school career with Zeek from WW (zay garret) kid is a FREAK! and as a freshmen has close to500 rushing yds and like 10 TDS for WW. Kids like that stand out and shine. 3-8th grade. Single handily winning their teams games. Ive seen enough of it that Cowboys dont have "that guy" in the pipeline

Do they have enough to win 10+ games a year? track record has supported that!

I am not bashing by any means. I like Aaron and think what they have done at Wyoming is pretty amazing.

But we can add everything up right? Wyoming youth Football gets kicked out of a league b/c their rosters arent compiled of enough Wyoming kids. it started from the bottom and worked its way up. You're right "that guy" may not be in a Wyoming youth or MS jersey.... yet....

Regarding football, does anyone have a breakdown of CHL football championships by school? Also, does anyone have Aquino h football all time record vs each CHL school?

I know a lot of you weren't even born yet but I suppose this would be a good time to remind everyone that Finneytown was the last CHL school to make it to a state volleyball tournament.

Sorry to have to say this, YJ and 93 (since I know this is a touchy subject with both of you), but it certainly looks like Taylor is the school punching WELL below its weight...

Doesn’t bother me. Most people would be surprised that Taylor is doing as well as they are. For some reason Taylor got the rep of being the worst school in the league. If people think enrollment numbers are the top predictor of success they are uninformed. I think Reading is the top achieving school in the league based on population and sociology-economics. If you think Taylor should perform at the same level as IH and Wyoming solely on enrollment then we won’t agree.

Eh , aint a touchy subject with me. I played sports at Taylor , my kids are there currently, alot of their programs are on the up!

But are we basing this off of the #'s? B/c if thats the case look at bigger Conferences like the GMC? how hasnt Mason and OH been able to win championships with their enrollment ? (I dont know how they compare to the other schools in the GMC but i would figure they are close to the top)

So I found the #'s

Mason has 2551 kids per OHSAA page. Next closest is Fairfield with 2389.

Mason has 0 GMC football titles.

Taylor has 13 more kids than IH and 51 more than Wyoming.

Wondering if this is with or W/out Competitive balance built in since Taylor is OE

I think the Braves are in for a trap game. Maybe wyoming too. With both teams looking ahead to the game of the century. I say the braves only win by three. Wyoming by 17
Absolutely no chance that the Indian Hill game is even close. It’ll be a running clock the entire second half.

Wouldn’t be shocked if the Wyoming game is the same.
