Favorable matchup against the Broncos facing a rookie QB in a pretty weak offense and a defense that’s not overly talented either. They might be the worst team in the AFC.

I would love to see this happen but a win in the NFL is so difficult. Remember last season when the Steelers lost Arizona and NE in back to back weeks?

I did read that Tomlin lead teams have lost to only 6 rookie QB’s. Let’s hope that Bo Nix isn’t #7 and gets to meet Mr Watt, Highsmith & Heyward on Sunday. Hopefully the Steelers can get….
A) Fields to take a snap under center and not turn the ball over.
B) a good day from Harris
C) continued solid play from the rookies C Frazier, ILB Wilson & Nickel Bishop.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Wilson but the biggest thing is the penalties need cleaned up. Jones had 3 penalties on one drive where we started from our own goal line. The 2nd half the offense just went to sleep. I think their biggest drive was 5 plays. Denver obviously made adjustments but where were the offensive adjustments? Then we go and play prevent D at the end and let Denver get another 3 points. Some head scratchers for sure. Plenty of time to improve though. Let’s be thankful to be 2-0 when nobody thought we would be.
 
biggest issue I saw was the penalties. can't keep shooting yourselves in the foot. defense won't be able to hold up like this all season.

Agree. After every play I was looking for a flag. I thought more than a few (on both sides) were incidental and I wish they would let them play. Pickens TD being one of them. (Also the offensive pass interference in the 1st half)
 
I am not at their practices and know what is happening. However, most of what I read in the preseason was that Jones was going to left tackle with Troy at right tackle. On the radio pre-game show yesterday, they said Jones was not going to start because the coaching staff felt he was not finishing his blocks. Keep him in 1 position and let him develop.

Keep Jones & Fautanu both at RT with Moore at LT. Let each battle it out each week to see who starts and who is the swing tackle for the week. Competition will hopefully drive both to become the best each can be.

The Steelers did this with Antonio Brown & Emmanuel Sanders their rookie season to see who would return punts for the week. Worked out pretty good for both players.
 
Steelers looked good the 1st half, held on in the 2nd half but a win is a win in the NFL. 2-0 with both coming in the road and no injuries to speak of excluding the punter Johnson.

Frazier is a stud at C, Wilson at ILB has played well and RT Fautanu saw his first action since week 1 preseason.

Fieids is what he is. The Steelers can win with him but the ceiling is probably a playoff appearance, maybe one win in the playoffs. Need more from the position to play with KC & Buffalo in the AFC. I don’t think Wilson will be much better. The Rams season has imploded after just two weeks: 0-2 with extended injuries to both wr’s Kupp & Puka, the LG and a safety. Their season is done just 8 days into the season. QB Matt Stafford is 36 with 3 years left on his deal w/ cap hits of $46 mil, $49 mil & $53 mil over this season and the next two. Stanford is only going to get the snot beat out of him this year, it isn’t going to be pretty.

How about a call to the Rams: A 2025 1st and 2026 3rd for Stafford? Some of the cap hit would hit the Rams this year so the full $46 would not be on the Steelers this year who are currently $13 mil under the cap. They may have to restructure Watt and Fitzpatrick’s contracts to fit Stafford into this years cap but they have plenty of space in 2025 & 2026. Stanford can still play at an extremely high level, he played great vs Detroit last week. Trade Wilson to Miami for a 4th or 5th round pick and keep Fields as the backup for this year.

It’s a very non Steelers type of move but if you think you have the roster on D to truly compete for a Super Bowl and are missing one piece on offense - let’s do it.

So what are we thinking this weekend vs the bolts? I’m not very impressed with the bolts as well as the Steelers. The bolts have beaten the raiders and panthers. The Steelers look a tad bit better because of the falcons win in Philly. Pickens says the offense is about to explode. I’ll wait to see that when it actually happens. I expect another close low scoring Steeler type of game where we fail to score 20 points again. 17-13 Steelers W.

I think the Steelers finally hit the elusive 20 point mark. 20-17 win. Maybe 7 more if QB2 starts for the Chargers and good guys get a defensive TD.
