While watching the Shelby game last night was it me or did Shelby look incredibly gassed midway through the second period? And when Lima Shawnee made their run it looked like Shelby was running in mud. Give them credit tho they weathered the storm and extended the lead for the win.

It was a weird game for Shelby after that 1st quarter. Against Lex, the slow 2nd quarter was mainly from going away from what was successful and some dumb playmaking. This time, it just appeared as though the spark wasn't there. The first two guys off the bench are usually great for providing an extra edge and energy for the regular starters, and last night it didn't work out that way for whatever reasons. Also haven't seen Ramsey miss a dunk all year.

Whatever it is, I hope it passes in time for Saturday's game.

I seem to remember Ramsey being very tight when they played Glenville in football. Dropping passes he would normally catch. Maybe the bigger the stage has an affect on him.

Lantz never seemed completely right after he tweaked his leg/ankle. And he was key to their huge lead at the beginning of the game. It's hard to defend when the Whippets are running at that pace and connecting on those three-quarter court passes with their length and Lantz's speed. Here's hoping he's back at or near 100% tomorrow.

Alter-Wyoming never close. Knights are peaking at the right time. When your 5 man can step out and knock down 3s it’s a tough cover. You go man, they’ll find the matchup and exploit it. Go zone and it’s like shoot around for Greer and the boys. Plus the defense they have been playing has been phenomenal. You don’t see zone every night and can only run so many sets against a zone. The length of the zone too. Knights are playing well making their 2nd state trip in 3 years. And are looking for Coulters first title and the schools 4 boys basketball title. In addition playing in basically their backyard with it being a 15 minute drive from Alter.

Uhl becomes a tough cover only if he both posts up and shoots the three. Right now he’s not a tough cover if you know him. Put a 6’2 kid on him and play him tight. If he does put it on the floor he’s a charge waiting to happen. Also, Alter’s zone is effective only if you don’t get in the huge gaps that exist. Move the ball, gap them, and be patient, an open shot will be there. That’s why I say the 1-3-1 is their best defense. It pushes the action. Also, their length becomes a true weapon then. Best of luck to the Knights. Go GCL!

Lutheran West was not expecting a team to not be terrified of them by the looks of it. It felt like going up against Cobra Kai. I think that first dunk by Lantz showed them that Shelby was not what they were used to in the tournament. Levis was frustrated by Ramsey's defense. Ramsey had to deal with guarding/ being guarded by Glenville during football season. Makes a lot of assignments in basketball seem much less ferocious in comparison. Also, it seemed as though Shelby was the definite taller team.

And for all the hype of LW's defense, it was pretty clear they couldn't do much to Bruskotter besides double team and foul him on shot attempts. Then it turned into some intimidation/shenanigans by #21 to get in Alex's head around the third quarter. Either way, Alex had about 10 free throws before the pair of technicals LW got in the last minute of the game.

Gotta give credit to the Shelby fans as well. On the boys side, this was likely our best program win in either football or basketball. The fanbase was well aware that this was the game we traditionally lost over the years. Great energy.

The way alter shot the ball is scary. Over 60% from field... hit all fts... almost 50% from 3. Congrats to them... it was impressive!
