D7 R25 2024

Anyways looks like

#1 2009 ST Paul and #9 2015 Mogadore are moving on to round 2.

Next up we have the other side of the bracket.

#3 2008 Hopewell Loudon VS #14 2013 Western Reserve

2008 Hopewell Loudon
Back when we were region 21 Hopewell was here for a short while. This #3 was hard to pick.
They legit had no threats until they lost the finals to the Mac powerhouse Delphos St Johns
14-1
Averaged 38.3 ppg and 36.4 in the playoffs
Let up 12.9 ppg and 17.8 in the playoffs.
Won the first four playoff games by 27, 30,21, and 35. Before losing 34-14 in the finals. If im not mistaken they liked to throw.

2013 Western Reserve
Hake back at it again with the slighty improved Devils IMO.
13-1
Averaged 30.4 ppg and 26.3 in the playoffs
Let up 13.3 ppg and 15.3 in the playoffs.
This line was brutal, they normally could control the game from both sides. Fell just short in the semis losing 14-10 to Trimble.

#6 2014 St Paul VS #11 2021 JFK

2014 St Paul
13-2
THESE GUYS PUT UP POINTS....until they couldnt and lost 41-0 in the final to Marion Local. Other lose with to D5 Huron 14-7.
Averaged 40.66 (with a 0 and a 7 is impressive) and 32.6 and the playoffs.
Let up 12.33 ppg and 15.2 ppg in the playoffs

2021 JFK
10-3
Lost in the semis to Newark Catholic 14-7.
Averaged 37.2 PPG and 36.2 in the playoffs.
Let up 11.7 PPG and 12.4 in the playoffs.

UPSET? Discuss and vote! We will go to Thursday. Also feel free to give me good info on these guys, that way if they win Ill add it to the breakdown!
No upsets here. #3 HL and #6 St. Paul advance. Myself, I would have flipped their rankings.

Agreed. We run the same schemes down through pee-wee, so any changes would only add adversity. I'm not
a huge fan of the double-wing, but for now, keeping it as our primary offense, is paramount. Personally, I like
pro sets, the "I" to be exact.
I do love an "inventive" run scheme. Some smaller NCAA schools have been doing fun stuff with run games, keeping the basics of the double wing, but changing up the formation to mess with the defense.

Not sure where I saw it but pretty sure it was a high school out west. They ran option power out of 3 back I-set. Lead was dive, back 2 took place of pulling guard and 3rd back did a counter step and became pitch man. It was beautiful.

HL and NSP for the wins.
I think that 2014 season was when NSP's kicker outscored all of their opponents combined, at least up to the final.

HL in a rout.

NSP v JFK really had me thinking. I'm with DNIS in that I'd have figured JFK would have been higher seed here. Couldn't make up my mind so cheated and ask the calpreps dorks what they thought. Mrs always said I moved like a "broke robot" now I have to wonder if I think like that too!

I agree with that..........JFK run defense was stout for DVII. Other than the snow nobody was going to run on our defense unless you were from the MAC. I think Dalton got away from that game plan and it cost them. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
In 2021 JFK lost to Gmen 28-14, I would argue that was the best Gmen team and they had lineman and good backs, most physical game of the year
JFK lost to Moggy 16-14
JFK lost to NC 14-7
Holding that Dalton team to 13 points was impressive. Garaway and Ridgewood held Dalton to 7 points that year.

I meant I would have had NSP as the #3 seed and Hopewell Loudon as the #6.

I thought the 2020 Kennedy team was there best of the 3-year run.
2016 JFK Defense was the best we ever fielded while I was there. 2020 when we played Lucas it matched our strength of the defense at JFK

Smithville fan line 1 - he'd like a word with you....

Helped that the Dalton QB couldn't bend his wrist on his throwing arm - Malone beat Brown on deep balls a couple times but under-thrown balls ended in PBUs. Oh well - was a great game, one the Dalton faithful definitely wanted back. And here we both are now in HS football purgatory...at least my coach already moved onto to a new team! 🤮 😁

Hakes shenanigans on that awesome night in Saint Clairsville will always be laughed upon.

2016 was probably the best defense in school history with the 1992 State Runner Up squad next lost Paolucci defensively for the State Championship game or would have been back to back State Champions
