D1 Darby District 2024

Top 5 Teams with Most Qualifiers:

1) Dublin Coffman: 14
1) Marysville: 14
3) Olentangy Liberty: 13
4) Dublin Jerome: 11
4) Upper Arlington: 11

Any Chance for Liberty to make a run at Coffman this year?

Coffman will wipe the floor with liberty like always. Only reason that teams like marysville and jerome got so many out is because their sectional only had 5 teams in each weight class and they got lucky with byes

Marysville: by far the most consistent, high achieving (in terms of high team finishes in the post season) program in the Central District.
If you care to know the history, or have been around prior to 2019... through the years, many teams have come and gone sporting their respective streaks of dominance/winning (Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, OLib, now Coffman). All the while Marysville has remained in the mix amongst those teams, whether they were in the title hunt, or maintaining top 8, 5, and 3 finishes. It is extremely impressive what they've been able to build from the ground up, and maintain.
Seeing as they are a host site, they can only wrestle who shows up. Given the field, Im sure the expectation/goal was that they qualify all 14. Its certainly what I expected as an outside observer (of that team and host site).

Not sure how long what Coffman has going on will last - it certainly seems like they arent going anywhere any time soon, and again, it is extremely impressive the results they're arriving at - but I can pretty much guarantee Marysville will continue to be there, which I cant really say with as much confidence about any other program, based on history at least. Regardless of how tough their sectional is each year.

I really like these.

I got Nuamann (Berlin) getting out at 113, I could be wrong but I think he has wins over Hix and Jones. Berlin has a really great coaching staff too.

I think he’s close. I didn’t look at duals - too time consuming. I saw that he lost to jones 7-0 earlier in the year. I’m sure he has made jumps.

Not so sure about Birden moving on at 113 ?? He lost 11-1 in the sectional semi final to an unranked kid from Westerville North. He could potentially meet him again in the consolation bracket unless he beats Mokros.

113 is going to be a tough ticket to punch. Outside of all the ones already mentioned, who all have a great chance, Gardner from OLib is no slouch either.

Thanks for the concern, but I think I'll trust my memory more than your sense of humor.
I will take it if Coffman "wipes the floor with Liberty like always", like they did last year. Of course that "wiping" came down to Liberty losing the last match of the day (to a non-Coffman wrestler), but semantics, right?

I personally don't think it will be quite that close this season. Coffman is even better than they were last year. They've built a great program.

P.s. That's probably a good thing - they can save that extraordinary meat ride they put on TV last year for one of their own teammates.

Well, considering Coffman's 'extraordinary meat ride' last year, I'm sure Liberty will bring extra napkins this time. Coffman's program is as solid as their grip on reality. By no means am I a Coffman fan, I think marysville's young team will overtake them and liberty in the coming years.

As long as the Dublin Coffman Wrestling Bed and Breakfast is still in service, It's going to be a long reign. Days of true scholastic district champions like Marysville, Lancaster or CC.....HS are behind us.
