They were extremely well coached and so efficient. If I remember right, we did not force a punt all game. They had the one stud but everyone else seemed like they just knew their role, I remember thinking that the receivers block hard on every play.

I feel like last year they were one less injury away from winning a fourth straight state title. The o-line play improved with some changes that I think White would have really benefitted from. The Hackleman Wildcat was potent for a few games. Liberty played mistake free in that semifinal...

Not sure it would be the AD's, who I think look at making money to balance budgets and things. But I would love to be a fly on the wall to see say Rocky River's AD telling their football coach "oh yeah we are letting St. Ed's play here" and watch the reaction. Funny how we have never played in...

My favorite locations for the Elder game were in no particular order Bedford, Carol and Fairview. We've played at Bay too. I am sure some west side publics would rather not have St. Ed's play in their backyards but for the Eagles if you can swing it I could see that being good for us. Euclid...

Agreed, not sure if that was the only place open or the only place that would have us but hate going there for a home game. I like seeing a lot of Friday games. I am curious about Delbarton, their wrestling program was great but don't know about their football program. Having Huber Heights is...

Not sure why he would? 3 state titles and a final four appearance in the past 4 years. I think one thing learned last year was while you might have a qb who can sling it ok, being able to get hard yards when it matters counts for more. Losses to Massillon, Glenville and Hoban were winnable...

I can't imagine bypassing good high school football states like Florida, Georgia or Texas to come to Ohio (also a good football state). I don't think Canada North goes much further than the border states of Ontario.

Sports-wise, yes I think having hockey back into their title winning ways would be at the top of my list too. They compete and they've come close but they need to seal the deal and it is only made worse with St. Ignatius racking up titles in that time. I believe basketball will be back to what...

While this is true, I think high school education has come a long way. The school has also vastly expanded its special needs programming and staff, something that we know a lot more about now then back then. It would probably be difficult explaining to someone that a ratio of 1 teacher to 40...

    St. Ignatius basketball 2024-2025

I wouldn't worry too much. Ignatius is on a run, they are a very good team with size, shooting and depth. A lot of seniors though. Ed's has no size and two guys that had varsity time last year transferred. This was always going to be a tough year for the basketball rivalry.

    Broke Programs

Lakewood as a community is pretty eclectic. Very high income real estate along the lake, a lot of renters from all sorts of income brackets in a lot of different types of housing and that's the same with the homeowners. I think there are a few things that happens in Lakewood that hurts its...

Schedule always dominates the talk this part of the offseason. I know I've been impressed we've gotten 10 game schedules more often than not. I hope that there are a lot of young jv guys who are working hard to take over the spots the seniors will be vacating. Would hate to see Elder go, I...

    2024 St. Edward Football

Agreed. I would just add that I think the coaches were adjusting, guys just kept getting hurt. The Wildcat wrinkle had real promise then the next week he got hurt. Guys stepped up and we made the state semifinal, losing to the eventual champion in a competitive game. There are some things...

    2024 St. Edward Football

Last night was about a team that made mistakes and another team that didn't. The backbreaker was the qb scramble where he hit his receiver over the top but honestly, you can't win if you can't score. I agree with what was said earlier, with so much speed and skill, I'm not sure why they didn't...

    2024 St. Edward Football

A lot of good linebackers, I'd say Cousineau was in a class of his own, although Slammer is right, Girgash was really phenomenal. Some people mentioned Mike Spooner, he was incredibly athletic and filled holes well. Ryan Bailey, Rodney's little brother, was also fast and hit well. Bob Norman...
