Halftime in Morrow
Colerain: 28
LM: 30
Something to note is that Carter Sellers has yet to check in. He warmed up with his wrist heavily taped. Would be a devestating loss for them if he can’t return soon.
Elijah Jones also has his wrist heavily taped, but has played really well with most of the LM scoring so seems to not be serious.

WALNUTPOSTING: Walnut Hills 68, Turpin 67

I'm very surprised to learn that Walnut Hills, as a team, were in fact capable of scoring 60 points in a single game of basketball - this is only the second time we've done it all year.

Turpin started the game by scoring 23 points in the first quarter, with Lafkas maintaining his hot play from the Western Brown game and knocking down three after three against a lost Walnut defense that was missing Najoli, whose value became incredibly apparent as he DNP'd this game and didn't make the trip to Turpin. Walnut responded with a 25-point second quarter, which was only the third time all year that they posted 20 in a single quarter. The teams were evenly matched for the entire second half, with Claxton and Javien hitting some solid free throws down the stretch. With 6 seconds left and leading by 1, King stepped out of bounds and gave the ball back to Turpin. On the ensuing possession O'Toole collided with Claxton and put up a wild shot, which went out of bounds with 0.1 seconds left, not enough for Turpin to score, and Walnut came away with the victory.

Ty Austin had 18 in the first half, which was more than he had in any game this season except Grant County; he finished with 22, which was a new career-high for him. Claxton had 21, which was also his first 20-point game since Grant County. Brock and Javien had 9 each. Piening entered in the 2nd quarter and played some solid minutes - didn't get any points himself, but was a nice distributor and helped Austin in his second-quarter frenzy. Will Rivers came off the JV team and played his first minutes of the year, picked up a rebound or two. Richardson played Najoli's role admirably, with some solid blocks and steals despite no points.

Record is up to 4-15, and we have won 3 of our last 7, which by 2024 Walnut Hills standards is basically the '95 Bulls. Next up is a road game at Winton Woods.

I’m not sure how the RPI works so with Walnut beating Turpin and Kings beating sycamore and Walnut having beat Kings that could bump there rating to maybe 27 or 28?

Love the way they played tonight hopefully this is the turning of the corner for Ty and he can be a consistent double figures guy for this team rolling into next season

RPI seeding doesn't usually ever shift that much with one game, because it's just based on your winning percentage and that of your opponents. Heading into tonight, there was an ocean between us and #30 West Clermont, and the increase in winning percentage from our Turpin win didn't even bridge half the gap. I would say we could make it up if we win the Summit and Withrow games, but neither of those games count toward seeding before the tournament draw. We're most likely stuck at #31 barring a miracle win on Friday.

Praying for a miracle on Winton road Friday! They played them tough first time around hopefully the adversity they’ve fought through will have them ready to go and an extra incentive to ruin Tyler and Sean’s senior night

This is a good league, parity from top to bottom. WW obviously the best team this season. Walnut with a nice win over Turpin. They lose Claxton but pretty young squad. I saw WC at Kings last season and this season. Very impressive turn around. Next season will be even better. The league will be wide open next season.

This league is exciting next year will be even more competitive. For my Eagles they have a lot of sophomores that I hope can turn the corner and they are potentially a contender for league title the next two years

As Walnut was largely able to keep Shea O'Toole in check on Tuesday, Rayshawn Hubbard is now the conference's second-leading scorer, only behind TMK. He'll be a strong candidate for 2025 ECC Player of the Year if he returns to West Clermont for his senior year.

I don’t think you’re using the word Parity right. In this league, I believe there are teams who have low talent but great coaching, discipline, etc, while there are teams with high talent that also can’t run an offense, don’t box out, rely on one guy going to UC and whose coach just kind of claps and says a few things here and there (WW, possibly others, haven’t made it to too many games this year). Parity means (roughly) equal talent levels, I think there’s a lot more to the teams of the ECC than just talent levels (other than WW)
You're somewhat correct, but I believe 9 of the teams are all fairly similar in talent. If you look at them individually almost every team in the league has one "star" player and a collection of role players around them.

Anderson - Piening
Kings - Clark
Lebanon - Thompson
Loveland - Sauer
LM - Jones
Milford - Dalen
Turpin - O'Toole
WC - Hubbard
Walnut - Claxton

Now, the parity comes through matchups, system, coaching, team interaction. How do you explain Kings, Milford & Turpin having very middling years despite their alleged talent? Lebanon has a P5 prospect, yet they are .500? LM goes from winless and forfeiting in the tourney their first year in the league and now possibly finishing first*(non-WW division) in four years?

That's the definition of parity in my book.

Will Coach Kerr opt to apply elsewhere next season after his impressive first season at Little Miami? The guy is a winner and easily one of the top 5 coaches in Cincinnati.

Top notch Coach, no doubt about it. Lawhon does get a little credit for leaving a good situation. Couldn't understand why he left but according to this site he was always looking at other jobs? Kerr also gets credit for style of play change which made them more aggressive.

Lawhon is back as an assistant at Lakota East this year. His big problem, both for getting a head job and making it work, is that he is not a teacher and instead has a day job.
