Way too early GCL COED baseball predictions 23-24

no their new coach is an absolute joke, i think it is a theology teacher at Fenwick, who has been a 4th assistant at Wick. Joke Coach, who is going to be coaching a soon to be joke program
definitely a possibility that fenwick drops out of any sort of contention for the GCL title after the loss of their seniors next year, Sova and Bezold. With Badin and CJ's underclassmen, I have a feeling it's going to be CJ winning the title this year and then Badin for the next couple years.

I agree. Seems like the further they move into the future, the less varsity experience the underclassmen have, which is taking a toll on the state of the program.

Im hopeful this doesn’t steer away potential players or families as well. I know there’s a class coming in soon that has some talented baseball kids who will all hopefully attend Alter as freshmen.
It is a breath of fresh air. I have talked to him a couple times and he seems like a nice guy. He is also making those boys work. They were practicing at the same time as the football team in the dark under the lights in the cold. I know they are actually using the weight room finally. I know an Alter team hasn't done that in a very long time. They still may be bottom half, but they are going to be strong and solid. This might be the 2002 Oakland As at the high school level.

That field was always a cool place to play! Are the Dragon/Reds supporting that project?
I could see how potentially it could be a great place to play, but with it being taken care of by the city (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), it's not a well taken care of field. Infield and outfield are lumpy, and the grass is usually long. The dugouts, while not completely run down, have a lot of visible milage on them. It needs some serious TLC and some upgrades.

You are actually being too nice. Not a great venue.

Sorry, I should have prefaced my comment of it being nice from my experience coaching and playing there 20-30 years ago.

Is the Reds Community Foundation the ones putting the turf in?

IS Howell Field the field that the city of Dayton runs?
Ahh good ol Howell. I remember playing against Sinclair there and we had to kick a homeless guy out the dugout. I thought the turf project was in limbo due to part of it being on an indian burial ground?

That was the lower area of Triangle park. The NFL funded turf football field was supposed to be down there, but was built where the old Parkside Homes used to be.

Not unless they have some hidden pitching somewhere. The 2002 A's pitcing:
Zito 23-5 ERA 2.33
Hudson 15-9 ERA 2.45
Mulder 19-7 ERA 2.89
Koch 11-4 ERA 2.02 closer 44 saves

Love the movie Money Ball but it gave very short attention to the awesome pitcing staff they had to enable the Billy ball to work. Hope the new coach can shake some things up, Alter needs it. They have not has had a winning team since 2013 when they got to district final. Baseball program is the redheaded step child of all Alter sports programs. Need recruit the building to get the best athletes to play baseball. Hope new coach can turn it around.

Recent Insider news,

Heard from my sons friend that the baseball team at Alter IS in fact working. When my son played ball back in the day they never touched the weight room. I guess they maybe hired a trainer but i may be wrong. So with this news. Alter baseball will be one of the fittest, but can they hit and pitch or even field a grounder. Alter really needs to pick up on the spring sports.

How does the idea that Alter is working out in the gym mean they will be one of the fittest programs?

From recent years I can definitely assure you that Alter is a doormat GCLC team.

I will say this though. There really isn't a reason why they should be though. Winter lifting is a start in the right direction. There needs to be a lot more than just that to build a proper program. In my opinion there's no reason to think that if someone came in and ran a legit program, Alter wouldn't attract more talent.

They looking for a head coach? 😁

Why are all the Fenwick students in the baseball forum? Fellow Falcons - post in other threads on your own time but always be in the football forum for prime trolling. It's like they don't even cover Yappi in orientation anymore.
Maybe all of the Fenwick trolls are part of the mass exodus that is happening currently in Hunter and they have lost interest because Fenwick isn't their high school any longer.
