New Bremen has given up 14 points so far and Versailles has given up 7. Both have played one D V school. This game is at NB............I hope I don't hear the PA guy say.........."First Down".. . very many times.
Versailles 10
New Bremen 7

NB's O is still trying to find it's groove. The D has kept them in a few games long enough for the offense to put some things together but that's going to get much more difficult as they see more MAC schools, including this week against Versailles. NB might not get on the board but if they do, I think your score prediction is about right with 7 points.

I plan to attend this game and I'm looking forward to it because it looks to be one of the best matchups in the area this week.

I don't know much about these teams, but it seems Versailles is a little better, with a more dynamic offense that has quick-strike capabilities (e.g., Ben Subler). But it's likely the Cardinals aren't far behind the Tigers, and they're hosting, so it should be close and could probably go either way.

I hope both teams are as near to full strength as possible.

This is the most intersting game of the week.

Has V truly replaced Osborn at QB?
Has Coach Schmidt did it agqin and built a champinship caliber team (if MSML wasnt in their way)

The winner of this game the last 4 years has had a dynamic QB.
2020 Hayes, Sr. State Champion
2021 Bey, Sr. State Champion
2022 Homan, Sr. State Champion
2023 Osborne, Sr. runner up.
2024 Wilker Jr. Versailles

I think he's a running back (rather than a qb), but Muether for the Cardinals is a dynamic athlete. Played wr last season I believe.

As stated in the previous post, some great qb's have played for these schools recently. Four state final appearances between them in the past 4 seasons - three state titles.

Hayes in 2020, not Wells.

Cardinals victory over Lima Bath looks pretty good. Watched Bath beat Lima Shawnee on WOSN. QB for Bath is impressive. Bath is in the same region as the Tigers.

If Versailles can overcome some injuries and get solid play from the QB, I think they win in a low scoring game. Perhaps, similar to last week's game against DSJ. The Tigers will have to be able to establish the run, and pass when NB stacks the box. The Tigers could move the ball between the 20's last week, but had trouble converting when they needed too on some drives. Not sure what NB brings offensively, but the Tigers have been playing good defense all year, with the exception of the 2nd qtr drive by DSJ. Too much zone, and a costly penalty allowed that score. I was impressed with DSJ's physicality. I expect the same from the Cardinals this week.

I might be able to catch this game.

First time stopping in New Bremen.

Where should I go for a bite to eat and an ice cold beverage?

They ran me out of Minster when they heard I'm from Marion County.
Bring me a fried bologna sandwich from G&R Tavern on your way in!

Caddy's is a very cool spot. TONS of drink options. They have a more limited food menu but everything I've ever eaten there has been very very good.

If you like Mexican, you can't go wrong with Casa Lupita.

Otherwise, check out the American Legion or Speedway Lanes for bar grub and good cold brews.

What are the Cardinals strengths this year?
The reason no one has answered this is because no one really knows yet. Been a weird year for NB. Years past have been aggressive D and a high-potent offense. I think last year, not having a game-changing, play-making QB changed the mindset a bit. Coaches have adjusted well this year. NB plays solid D and the coaches are just trying to find out who their play-makers are and ways to get the ball in their hands. At times, it seems like they need to keep looking. And other times, they can put together a really good drive and things look like they really are clicking. Just not enough of the latter yet.

18-17 final. NB went for two and didn't get it.

Versailles might have got one first down in the second half. NB moved the ball better; their TE was their 1st half O.

Neither team did anything offensively in the 2nd half. V TD (2nd half) was set up on a bad snap by NB in punt formation giving Versailles the ball on NB's 3 yd line. NB's only offense was a 50' ish TD pass with 2 min. left. Good 2 pt. conversion call, pass just fell short as V got pressure on the QB, receiver was open. Good game.
