A 7th grader really likes the pole vault. Any suggestions are helpful.

609- It's Conley's boy. I'm hoping Jr ends up a legit miler, does not have the speed of his dad.
Or a kick butt pole vaulter. Pole vaulting is cool.

Learn the PETROV vaulting method. It follows basic laws of physics regarding conservation of momentum while converting kinetic energy to potential energy and the return therof. Get a hold of the book and video "From Beginner to Bubka" ( http://www.polevaultpower.com/store/btbbook.php )

As a mechanical engineer who has also had biomechanics training, the drills recommended and demonstrated within these materials are very much supportive of the quickest and most efficient way to vault properly. I wish these publications had been around 30 years ago. Good luck.

You are welcome. An additional benefit of the drills in the book is that you can be creative in making them into contests of themselves and encouraging the learning process to be fun. Things that are done repetitively that are fun are retained within the neuromotor receptors & brain the most.

Enjoy!
