Some of the people behind the world's most momentous inventions will be in Akron Monday afternoon for a grand re-opening of the National Inventors Hall of Fame's Akron Gallery after a six-month renovation.

Once the headquarters for the National Inventors Hall of Fame, the downtown gallery has remained open but quiet since 2008, when the hall moved back to Alexandria, Virginia.

The museum hopes that will change after Monday's grand opening, when a whole host of new exhibits opens for all to see, all centered around scantly recognized inventors who all in some small way changed the course of human history.

"A lot of people saw it as leaving Akron when our offices moved out of there," said Rini Paiva, who manages the Akron Gallery for the national museum. "The messages we're trying to get out is we never left."
