Flickr Ditching Google, Facebook Log-In by June 30

As of June 30, Yahoo will eliminate Flickr's social media login options, instead requiring everyone to have a Yahoo ID.

Existing users should receive an email from Yahoo, warning of the impending change. Starting next month, you'll no longer be able to sign into Yahoo services with a Facebook or Google account; you'll have to use Yahoo credentials.

To ensure future access to Flickr, you can either sync a current Yahoo account with Flickr, or create a new set of credentials online. If you forgot your Yahoo ID, follow the typical steps to retrieve your username and password.

This is a trend that I'm betting starts taking place more and more. Too many major sites were giving away access to their web property to the internet giants.

I never understood this 3rd party login stuff to begin with. I'll be glad to see it gone.
