As usual rosters are being used off of Maxpreps and Hudl.

This was my first time taking a game in at Western Beaver High School.
For me it's always a treat seeing new teams and visiting new places and this turned out to be a real treat, because the game was a battle from start to finish. These two teams seemed very evenly matched, with the biggest difference in my opinion was play calling. Lincoln seemed to be more willing to try different things, where as Western Beaver mainly ran up the gut or threw short passes, until they were forced to go downfield through the air.

Unofficially, I had Western Beaver with a total of 162 yards, with 83 coming on one play.
For Lincoln, they ended with 284 yards. The game was filled with flags, with a total of nineteen being thrown. Ten of them went against the road team.

The Wolverine would get a big first down, when Ryan Gibbons found Rocco Sesti to move the chains just forty seconds into the game. That play would set up a a forty seven yard run from Donavin Chambers, who easily outran the Golden Beavers defense. Chambers added the point after kick, making this a 7-0 game.

Cam Irvine would find #4(NOT ON THE ROSTER) for an gain of nineteen yards. Then at the 4:08 mark Raven Chandler raced thirty yards for a score. Dakari Bradford locked this one up at seven, with his point after kick.

Lincoln would find themselves in a fourth and fourteen situation, after #44(NOT ON THE ROSTER) was stopped for a one yard loss, after being hit by Chandler, with 3:03 showing on the clock.

Lincoln would get a fumble recovery by Storm Chambers, with 1:33 left in the quarter. This play seemed to set up the games theme, defense.
Neither team really got things going on offense from here on out, as far as racking up big numbers, even though there would be five more scores.

Lincoln would continue the drive, after recovering the fumble, with a seventeen yard run from Rick Pitrelli. A face masking call on the defense tacked on fifteen more yards. Lincoln would try going to the ground again, with 9:45 left in the half, but #56(NOT ON THE ROSTER) smashed Carter Lutz, holding him to no gain.
Brady Welsh would make a catch and take the ball to the Western Beaver fifteen yard line, after a Personal foul was called on Western, the ball was moved down to the seven. The drive ended when a twenty seven yard field goal attempt by Colin Smith, was low and short, keeping this a tied game.

Irvine was sacked by the combo of Ethan Coy and Chambers, for a loss of five, at the 7:33 mark.
The drive never recovered and a punt would follow a short time after.

With 4:17 left Lincoln faced a fourth and two, and they would go and convert, when Ryan Gibbons went up the gut for the gain. He was hit behind the line of scrimmage by Zack Shank and company but muscled his way for the first down.
Gibbons ended the drive with a power run up the gut, from a yard out. The point after making this a 14-7 game, with 3:28 left in the half.

The final 1:18 of the half was a fury of defensive action.
Noah Gray made a diving pick for Western to kick the action off.
Then we had a sack by Chambers for Lincoln, and then Chambers teamed up with Ethan Coy and Noah Bunney to record another sack.
The final defensive play came with just 14:6 left and that was another sack for Lincoln recorded by Coy.

The third quarter flew by,with defense ruling things again.
At the 5:52 mark,Gibbons was stopped at the one, when Lincoln went for it,on a fourth and goal from the three.
Lincoln's defense responded with a pick by Brady Welsh, at the 4:59 mark.
The final stand by the defense in the quarter came from Western Beaver, on a sack recorded by #56(NOT ON THE ROSTER)

The fourth quarter would see three touchdowns and one two point conversion, even though neither team gained a lot of yards.
Lincoln would go up 21-7, after a thirty three yard touchdown pass to Donavin Chambers and the point after kick was successful.

Tyler Powell recovered a Western fumble, with 11:44 left in the game, but the Western defense stood strong and got the ball back to its offense, after forcing a punt.

Western would get the biggest play in regulation, when Dakari Bradford took a pass in and then raced untouched for a eighty three yard touchdown. The kid had not been able to bring in two balls he should have caught earlier in the game, so this had to make him feel a lot better. The point after kick by Colin Smith was short. The score now stood 21-13 with 9:59 left in the game.

Lincoln put the ball on the ground, with 9:26 left in the game and making the recovery for the Golden Beavers was Irvine, near the six yard line of the Wolverine. From there Irvine would run twice before getting into the end zone. Irvine then connected with Chandler for the two point conversion to lock this one up at twenty one apiece.

The game would be settled in overtime, with Lincoln getting the winning score on a four yard run by Brady Welsh, who had taken a direct snap.
