This is going to be a battle! One score game either way
This game has been on my mind for valley view fans for a while. The winner of this game may ultimately decide how the OHSAA decides to set the matchup for valley view should they be fortunate enough to advance to the state semis

Team with the fewest penalties and turnovers which unfortunately is a trait for both. Ironton in particular is easily the most talented team in the region but also the most prone to shooting themselves in the foot. Whoever gets through this game will really have to clean it up for a likely matchup with Wheelersburg who is playing really well right now.

Ironton did not play well Friday vs Heath. Twelve penalties, undisciplined, almost blew a 24-0 lead...
If they play a cleaner game, they'll beat Prep. If not, it's a toss-up.

I've been saying HP is underrated all year. I think they're a legit title-contender. So, I guess I have to pick them this week. I hate betting against Ironton in anything but the state title game, though. Those kids just win. But, I like HP a little better in 2023.

With two huge regional finals looming next week in D5, it's nice to have a quasi-regional final this week to keep your attention. Winner is, obviously, a huge favorite the following week.

Ironton fan here. Wheelersburg is playing the best ball in the region. I’d make them a mild favorite over Ironton right now. Not sure on Prep. Ironton has outstanding skill and lots of youth but the mistakes they make will eventually do them in if they can’t miraculously clean it up

One player will have a big impact on this game being Shaun Terry. Ironton has gotta get him involved often in the offense, last season Prep just did not defend Perkins very well and he burned them. And Ironton has to clean up all the penalties it has been the burden of their last few teams

They need to be a little more creative on how and where they get the ball to Terry. Lately they wait for him to make a miraculous play which he is obviously capable of doing but that will get harder against more athletic teams or teams with sound defensive principles. They’ll run him on end arounds from a slot position or wide receiver screens when he is set back on 3 receiver sets. Other than that it’s hope he breaks a punt or kickoff return. Hopefully they’re planning on using him a little more as competition gets tougher in different ways. Bottom line is they have to clean up the penalties and show an ability to sustain some drives as opposed to waiting on an athlete to make a play. Against Heath it was the corner Johnson who is possibly the best athlete on the team with a couple of big picks. Scary Terry will get his if they can find ways to get him the ball in space

Huge fan and ex-Tiger... But, I'm skeptical about Ironton improving their play at this point. They've played this way all year and pretty much Pendleton's entire time there. I give him lots of credit in regard to training, exposure for kids, the re-emergence of the program - but they never look polished at all.

Yep. Keep waiting for them to clean it up a bit but don’t think it’s going to happen. Hats off to the kids for working hard and for Pendletons efforts but there’s another step to be taken if they want to win another title

Yes hopefully they are more creative but the bottom line is they’ve gotta clean up with the unnecessary penalties and can sustain drives and not live off the big plays

This week you have AP #2 v #4 and #5 v #10 in Region 18 and of course #3 v #7 in Region 19 here.

Fair re R18, but I think LC-CW is the main course there. I expect both to win with some comfort this week.

This matchup, though, I honestly don't know -- only picked HP b/c I've backed them all year. Should be a great game.

I hope this game is as good as advertised. Is the third time the charm for Harvest Prep? Can Ironton avoid an upset loss in the regional semis like in 2021 & stay in pursuit of their mission for their third title in school history? Look forward to seeing how it pans out. I’ll just say I’m glad the Hornets are NOT in D5 this year. LOTS of talent across the board in regions 17-20. Will make for some really great games from regional finals onward. This week though, this is my favorite game in D5.

The little city of Pickerington (19,000 pop) sure produces some nice ball teams. Harvest Prep I believe is in Picktown. Maybe The Reverend Rod Parsley’s prayers are coming to fruition.

My faulty memory says HP is in Canal Winchester.

And I won't comment on the Rev. Parsley and his prayers because this is a football forum. And because Mama said if you can't say something nice... :)

Go Fighting Tigers! - from an old Rock Hill alum.

Harvest Prep has played a tough schedule, but Ironton is always extremely physical. I think this will be a 14-7 21-14 type of game.

The Tigers will need all Hands on Deck to Win this Game.
They will need to play their Very Best and Super Clean
NO Penalties. The DFense will be most Critical they have
to limit the Chunk Plays and play containment Football.
Good Luck to both Teams.
Should be a Great Game.
Go Herd

Harvest Prep is Southeast of Recruiting Town USA.
Pastor Ron has been spending a lot of time on the Near East Side
of CBus. He has opened a Church at Livingston & Zettler.

Ironton has to cut down on penalties and mistakes. They are as talented as any D5 team but very young. In one of their last two games they only started 4-5 seniors. The future is bright but needs to include a discipline change. I say this out of respect for how Kirtland plays the game. Wish some of that culture would wash over Ironton
