D7 R25 2024

Turned out pretty well (obvious boners aside.)
Not too bad. I hit 9 out of 10, or 10 out of 11 depending on how you look at it. Apparently, I gave Cardinal too
much respect and Kennedy not enough. Which is weird. I always give Kennedy respect, right guys? The lovely city
of Warren? The better question...what the hell was I think putting Lowellville 5th? They blow. Always have.

My Preseason Top 10:
1. Cuyahoga Heights
2. Saint Paul (Norwalk)
3. Lucas
4. Hillsdale (Jeromesville)
5. Lowellville
6. Malvern
7. Monroeville
8. Western Reserve (Berlin Center)

9. Cardinal (Middlefield)
10. McDonald
Others: John F. Kennedy (Warren), Independence, Southern (Salineville)

Drew's Top 10 now:
1. Hillsdale (12-1)
2. Monroeville (10-2)
3. Malvern (11-2)
4. Western Reserve (Berlin Center) (10-2)
5. John F. Kennedy (Warren) (10-3)
6. Cuyahoga Heights (8-4)
7. McDonald (7-4)
8. Lucas (5-6)
9. St. Paul (6-5)
10. Lowellville (7-5)

St. John's in R26 is a 15 still alive, playing Columbus Grove this week. Wheelersburg in R19 is a 14 still alive playing Ironton this week. Cuyahoga Heights may have the best shot of those seeded outside the top 8 of winning their region though.
I forgot about DSJ. I'm slipping. 🤕

Remember when McDonald was a 2pt away from heading Lucas off in week 11, which by extension was the closest Lucas came to losing in November.

I miss that level of R25 postseason.
I'll never forget that. I was standing 10 yards away as Logan knocked that pass down.

I agree. 16 teams is silly. I also hate that Danville, Dalton, NMS are not in R25.

What a game! Thanks for sharing.

I did not know McDonald wore navy blue, or had yellow facemasks!
Since basically the start of wearing facemasks, McDonald's helmets were navy blue, white M, and yellow facemasks. Recently they have changed up the yellow facemask for blue. Otherwise, the helmet has been unchanged for 50+ years

couple things from that OH report video.....

1. Ethan Sauder(#10) was a big play machine during that run.
2. the QB for Mcdonald was a dude.
3. #3 had a big hit in that game but it doesn't compare to the big hit he put on that CH WR.

1. No question. E-Dog was a great RB. Super shifty. Good speed. A harder runner than he gets credit for.
2. Absolutely. That McDonald team was a hard hitting bunch. They pull off that win, they may go to Canton as well.
3. A great hit. The only 2 harder hits I seen from him were against D3 Centennial 2 years prior & against the LaBrae QB that same season.

That McDonald team was interesting. The year before, 2018, was probably the best team they've had since the mid 90s. They got unlucky that year in that they were one of the smallest (enrollment) schools in D6 and R21 was stacked that year. They lost a hard fought game to Moggy in the regional semi's and Moggy the next week had a late lead against eventual state champ Kirtland. 2018 McDonald in R25 likely wins the region.

That said, the 2019 team returned only 2-3 starters with not a ton of expectation. They had a very up and down first half of season, really started playing good football towards the end of the season. The week before that Lucas game they played D6 runner-up Springfield to a pretty competitive 38-21 final.

I'm a McDonald fan. Since that day, I keep my eye on their scores. I was happy to see them whack Lowellville in the regular season.
The playoff game....UGH.

That game was a classic playoff, hard hitting battle. Both teams I'm sure were feeling it the next morning.

This year there was some unfortunate injuries, especially one of the best players was lost for the year at the beginning of the Springfield game. The playoff game, McDonald had 3 4th and 1's deep in Lowellville territory they didn't convert that was the difference. After a few years in a row of lean classes talent wise, this year was a big step in the right direction. With the best players returning, plus plenty of good, young players including a Freshman stepping in due to injury at the playoff game and scoring 2 td's, they should have a really good team next year.

Good deal, man!

Remember that time Lucas was up 20 and on the verge of bouncing Danville only to give up 27 in the last 8 minutes?
:unsure::)
For a moment, I thought the R27 thread was going swimmingly on good discussion (turned out that was a lie),

and then @TARFU brings R25 back to the top of D7 discussion for good.
