This is by far the best team we've ever had at the state track meet, way better than the last state championship in 1994 which was pretty much a Doug Bockenstete show. We scored 26 points back then where Doug got 20 by winning the 1600 and 3200 and anchoring the 4 X 800 relay team to fourth for four points. Dean Fulmer also ran on that relay and scored two points in the 3200 by coming in fifth. Tommy Dodd also picked up 1/6 of a point by tying for sixth with five others.
The state runnerup team in 2008 was pretty much a two man show up there, but boy oh boy did they put on a show. Chandler Burden scored 20 point by winning both the shot and discus. Devere Posey scored 20 by winning the 400 and coming in 4th in both the 100 and 200 to get 10 points. Kendall Owens also picked up a point in the 100 by coming in 8th.
Now we come to 2011 and their assault on the school records. The two heroes of the meet were Rodriquez Coleman who scored in four events and Ethan Bokeno who scored in three. Five new school records were smashed at either the regional or state meet and the most ever qualifiers in events (8), in number of athletes (8), and in number of relays (3).
