Canton McKinley vs Warren Harding

End of 1st quarter:

McKinley 6 (missed XP)
Warren Harding 0

McKinley had very good field position throughout the quarter but had a lot of dropped passes.

Any updates on why Hill not playing?
Haven't heard anything. McKinley had a great 4th down play to take a 14-7 lead with 30 seconds before the half but gave the momentum right back by giving up a TD on the kickoff return.

Hill should play 2nd half. He was serving a suspension.
He was in to start the 3rd quarter and made an instant impact. McKinley moved the ball very well (passing and rushing) to score. Made the XP....up 21-14.

I wrote about Hill, McClellan, and Garner in my "25 Opponents To Watch" write up the other day and those guys sure didn't disappoint. Keith Quincy is nice to and the scary thing is that they're all juniors. McKinley is gonna be a fun watch this year and beyond.

Harding held on for as long as they could, but ultimately, couldn't keep up. Losing Nehemiah Alexander in the first half was a huge blow to our defense, but I love the fight that we showed. Been watching Airiz Coleman-Bey play football since he was a little boy, so I was ecstatic for him and his family after his kickoff return for a TD. We made a few plays here and there, but gotta work on our consistency moving forward.

McKinley kept Harding around with a couple dropped passes in the first half, but cleaned things up as the game progressed. Keaton Rode stayed composed throughout & McClellan absolutely destroyed us on those slants all game long. It always sucks to lose, but I always said that high school football is a lot more interesting when McKinley is making noise. I hope that y'all enjoy a 16-game season this year.

Good luck!

There should never be a year when we don't have a Harding-McKinley football game. Hopefully, it's here to stay.

While there's never a legit excuse to go 2-8, I fully understand why things are the way that they are. Or, at least not how it used to be. Thankfully, I think that as a whole, Warren is taking steps in the right direction towards progression. Everything starts from the top because when the city was whole, everything was better. There's a reason why the former industrial powerhouses in Ohio once ruled the football world.

As for this year, Harding may surprise with their depth. Week 1 won't be easy, but it's exactly the challenge that they need. It's been 20 years since Harding has beaten McKinley. Hopefully, the drought will end on Friday.
Worm, hope you are doing well brother! Keep fighting the good fight!

Pups has to clean up the special teams
Agree. Bulldog special teams, especially kick-off and Xpoint special teams, are a nightmare. The Mankowski kid just doesn't have a strong enough leg. They need to find a soccer player walking the halls of the school and give tryouts. On the other hand, the McKinley defense was outstanding!
Only gave up one TD, and 240 yards to Harding. McClelland looked great on both defense and offense. (Kick-off return was the other Harding TD, which was set up by a terrible kick-off by McK)
Nino Hill was a monster in the 2nd half. QB, Rode, was very poised and played a nice game, not just managing the offense, but his passing was sharp. Several dropped passes in the 1st half. Overall, a solid opener on the road for Canton McKinley. The home opener next week against Avon should be very interesting!

Nice win by McKinley on the road but we have to go through the kicking thing AGAIN? When you have the same problem over and over for 10 to 15 years shows a problem and a real weakness in your system that needs addressed at some point in time. Start down in the junior highs and have some camps or something for pete sakes.
