Is Taylor's run D good enough to force Alter to throw at all, or can Alter run for 300+ like they did on Wyoming? Hancock ran for almost 200 against them and Daniel had almost 250, so I know what I am expecting.

Odd take but I like your confidence. Taylor scored 26 versus a mediocre defense in Wyoming so I highly doubt they would've put the running clock on them at halftime without the RB . Looks like wyomings qb also had 170 yards and 2 tds with a 222 rating on the chl website versus Taylor so it's wasn't a one trick pony.
Again like Alter, neither of these teams are the same team that they were earlier in this season. Taylor if they played Wyoming tomorrow would probably beat them. Taylor and Alter are both playing their best ball so this should be a great game. Alter is used to getting slept on and I'm liking a lot of these takes.

Massie is always a high ranked team coming into the playoffs but many teams in this region especially match up well against their heavy run offense. I never expected Massie to win the region for that reason.

It's a great story and a nice run for Taylor but they are our of their league in this one. Alter might put a running clock on them.
Alter fan here but this isn't going to be a running clock. Taylor is scrappy and has some dudes. Im not making a score prediction but this game will be closer than you are expecting.
The passing game will open up a ton if Qb1 comes back for this game. He's been close for a few weeks now I've heard.

This should not be a conversation. Mcfarland is one dude. Alter has better. runningbacks, oline, receivers, and defense. This should be an absolute blowout. Either sophmore Drew Cripps or junior Rod Owens will make this kid nonexistent in the passing game. The fact that Taylor LOST to Wyoming tells me all I need to know.

"Not so fast" little grasshopper.

Common opponents, let alone at different parts of the season, can mean squat. Ask any sports gambler.

Alter does seem to be the overwhelming favorite based on strength of schedule, strong defense, and improved offense of late, but they still need to play the game.

On the other hand (pun inserted >), I can count on one hand, maybe no hands, the number of times Alter has been "surprised" by a playoff opponent this early in the tournament.

I agree both teams firing on all cylinders

I think we are in for a good one!

Mcfarland isnt all taylor has.... Is he their best overall athlete....prolly but im not sure he is far in front of Ferguson. I will insert of pic of Ferguson that lets you know why i say that. Ferguson (again this is a take from the photo guy with no vested interest in this) has been bubbled up this year as he is the back up QB for Kantz and they have held him out some from getting offensive touches b/c of that. Same with Brody Lehman , he has been such a key part of the Defense that he hasn't gotten the touches in the back field they may have thought he would.

Lehman punched it in on the goal line for Taylor in their opening drive vs VV.

Ferguson is avg'ing close to 6 YPC and 6 TD
Lehman is avg'ing over 8 YPC and 3 TD (brody only has 20 carries)(2 of Brody's 3 TD are in the post season)

J.Jones went for a 91 yd TD vs VV he is a freshmen and has all tools to be LEGIT.
6'5" freshman Sandusky will be a D1 football or basketball player some where if he stays on the track he is on.

Schrimpf has been Taylors featured back (he was out injured all year last year) he has 900yds rushing (almost 6 YPC) and 11 TD and 150 rec'ing yds and 2 TD. Cant over look a kid with 1150 + all purpose yds and 13 TD

What's been pretty cool to see is how versatile the Jackets have been and the balance in the playoffs

vs Urbana 174 pass yds (2 TD) 229 rush yds (4 TD) 5 different players scored TD's
vs VV 223 pssing yds (3 TD) 121 rush yds (1 TD) 4 different players scored TD's (one being defensive on a pick 6)

--------
cripps is a STUD and going to have to contain him from doing what he did vs Wyoming is going to be a big ask of Taylors D. He has had his 3 best games the past 3 weeks! Close to 500 yds and 5 TD
then you have the 2 headed monster on Defense of Wyatt and Watkins. 220+ tackles

------

no one from the Taylor side is down playing this TRUST ME! But Taylor has more than one kid ...
BUT if Hancock is in for Wyoming the game is different 100% . they would have had a running game and done a better job at controlling the clock. Would he have been able to make up 40+ pts no. but the game would have been different for sure.

Same can be said when people look at the Taylor vs MM score. we should have won by 40+ That weeks the jackets had A TON of crap hit em in the face and the fact they could push through it and get the W was big! When I look at common opponents and who they have played this is going to become a classic matchup!

the pic below is Ferguson vs Ross this in a scrimmage Ferguson is just as athletic on the Football field or basketball court as anyone (he should be running hurdles based off of this LOL!)

Interesting, Thanks for the stats.. Also, pretty cool picture.

Impressive athleticism. It's a penalty, but impressive nonetheless.
yea , stupid rule OHSAA should fix IMO (can only hurdle if they are on the ground?) makes no sense. here let this guy dive with the crown of his helmet into your knee.....

Interesting note, Taylor runs 6 players both sides of the ball. Alter rarely plays anyone 2 way. Cripps has been playing maybe half the offensive snaps lately if I had to guess so hes the outlier... if this game is close late it wouldn't likely benefit Taylor if they truly have that many boys going 2 way.
Alter is likely the best defense Taylor has played against all year. If they can put up points offensively and pull this off it will be well deserved.

Yes, that is pretty common for CHL and puts those teams at decided disadvantage against the likes of Alter. Pulling for the CHL and Taylor’s historic season to continue. However, having seen both teams play I’m afraid the only question in this one is whether or not Alter puts up a running clock. But that’s why you play the game and would love to be proved wrong!

Upset I won’t be able to attend. In looking at Taylor’s stats it does not appear their QB likes to or is comfortable running?
From what I’ve seen of Alter’s D he will be under pressure all night long.
I was at the VV game. Appears to get flushed out and like to throw balls in hopes his receivers will go up in get it. Minus a couple big plays I thought the game was closer than the score showed.

Alter has NOONE better than McFarland

what I am
So what’s the story with McFarland getting in a fight against VV?

Upset I won’t be able to attend. In looking at Taylor’s stats it does not appear their QB likes to or is comfortable running?
From what I’ve seen of Alter’s D he will be under pressure all night long.
I was at the VV game. Appears to get flushed out and like to throw balls in hopes his receivers will go up in get it. Minus a couple big plays I thought the game was closer than the score showed.
Man , i was there as well. VV was a broken play on a hitch route along the side line from being shutout of the end zone?

Taylor controlled every facet of the game Passing game , rushing game , special teams. While Taylor didn't have huge rushing #'s they were able to keep possessions extended by running the ball and giving VV a dose of their own medicine.

Taylor D held them under 100 yds of passing and rushing VV name of the game is run run run and Taylor was able to get them off game plan by special teams , long drives and costly early turnovers.

VV parents are complaining about dirty play. They are saying Taylor was chop blocking and going at their kids knees, in addition to late hits. Just curious if this is true.

Ever since my boys left, I have struggled to keep up. They really came together at the end of last year with the O line and D line being dominant. From what I have heard the D line is even better this year, but the o line really took some steps down. If o line improves give me Alter 24 and Taylor 7. GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK KNIGHTS!!!!!
