At the Jackson game last week overheard a parent say "if we beat Jackson we get two home games."

From my numbers if CC had beaten Jackson then CC would have finished 6th with an average of 17.0214.

Your calculations are correct.

However, said parent may have also been counting on more L2 help than CC got during the last 2 weeks (ex. Norwayne beating Dalton, a Lake Catholic win over VASJ in week 9, or a Jackson win over Hoover in week 10). In which case, the parent could've been onto something. It also wasn't known at the time that EP was going to cancel its game against Valley Christian and significantly increase VC's final average. The more correct statement from the parent would've been "we need to beat Jackson to have a shot at two home games."

The curse of the Harbin system is how much a team's final seeding is dependent on outcomes that are beyond that team's control. The more a team loses, the more they are at the mercy of outcomes from games in which they aren't playing.
