People keep bringing up Chris Phillips who no doubt was a HS phenom but to the OP's question Phillips did head to NC State, even if for a cup of coffee. I took the question as more someone who walked away or chose another sport on their own
Pat Knaze from Fairview, who many believe got hosed against Johnny Mcgee didn't wrestle after high school. He was an outstanding wide receiver at Baldwin Wallace.
