The real question is why the 4 seeds are weaker than the 5s. My suspicion would be that the Harbins are ranking the first place winners of weak conferences slightly ahead of the second or third place finishers of strong conferences, and that is happening at the 4/5 edge.

Some small quibbles, but largely agree with your post. Anderson won back-to-back R8 titles (lost in 2023 semis). The favorites to 3-peat R8, but probably 5th in D2 headed into 2025 season. The traditional NEO 3, and Big Walnut in Columbus is on the rise, though probably just for this season only.
