    Loveland/ Teays Home Plate Umpire

The initial post (criticism of HPU) is Exhibit A for why there is a shortage of sports officials. For some reason, I watched the entire video, with particular attention the 2nd inning. I have ZERO to do with either school (not even in the geographic area). There is NOTHING egregious about...

    Scoring concern in Wrestling Tournaments

Math geek here who likes to run the point totals from the brackets at the state tournament. Most times I am spot on, but this year I am off with regard to top 3 in D-1. St Ed’s officially awarded 258.0, I keep coming up with 259.0 Mass Perry awarded 198.0, I come up with 199.0. I know that...

OHSAA Seven Division Boys Basketball - "Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do" Boys Basketball State Semi Final Schedule

Don't want to speak for him, but I think Allsports12's reaction emoji is not about the sites but more about your proposition that attendance will improve. I think that ship has sailed. To me, the issue is more about the atmosphere you create for the kids for both semis and finals, not just...

2025 State Semifinalists and Site Forecasting

Good intel. I miss all the years at St. John Arena - but having just been there for the "skull session" prior to the CBJ outdoor game for the first time in 20+years - it just isn't up to par, whether you put score boards in, other upgrades, etc... there is no good way to get to the balcony in...

What is the best Ohio HS football game you’ve ever seen?

Pickerington (Central now) vs. Logan, 2000 regional semi-final at Fulton Field, Lancaster. I was and am a fan of neither team specifically, was just a HS football fan at the time. Logan won 28-26. Pickerington had Lawrence Reid (Michigan signee) as it's all-state linebacker, among others. QB...

OHSAA Cross Country State Championships By Matt McGowan

Your summary of the D-1 girls' race has an error. You have Chapman of Lancaster finishing 3rd behind Chapman of another central Ohio school. The 3rd place finisher from Lancaster was Marissa Heil.

Lack of construction at the HOF Village?

It's Haslams' fault. Deep-six the Browns, get focus off the stadium issue, while simultaneously (and surreptitiously) assisting with the default on HOF lease, so that state finals can be moved to....the always-planned new domed stadium in ... Brook Park (the highest bidder)? What a concept...

Analysis of Scores from Playoff Week 1

    Wins by lower seed (intentionally omitting 9 seeds, that’s splitting hairs imo). Also omits one game to be played Saturday. 10 - 7 11 - 11 12 - 6 13 - 4 14 - 1 15 - 2 16 - 0 Good on 2 #15 seeds on wins. On the other hand, DC was 2-8 and DSJ 3-7 in the regular season, so while they were...

New League: Ohio Catholic Athletic Conference

Not just responding to your post, just needed a place to fit a response to the concept of a centralized neutral site for sports other than football in general. Although your post regarding HoF facilities suggests that the neutral site concept might also include football. I agree that there is...

New League: Ohio Catholic Athletic Conference

It's probably an overnight anyway - so the varsity plays Friday night, the JV play Saturday morning, the varsity watches that game (and/or gets in their Saturday conditioning) and they get on the bus together to get home. That or its a double header on Saturday and no overnight stay required.

New League: Ohio Catholic Athletic Conference

3 travel weekends for round robin basketball schedule if you adopt travel partner concept like the UAA did for D-3 league in which CWRU and Carnegie Mellon competed. The downside for that league (the UAA) was the distance of travel required flying for the weekend schedule of games. These 8...

New League: Ohio Catholic Athletic Conference

Or you put in place "travel partners" like the UAA did (D-3 college conference in which CWRU & Carnegie Mellon were travel partners). Football being one game per week is easier to handle with travel. Might even result in some Saturday games. And most of those schools already have some long...

    Two Officials for JV Game

I think you are more privileged than you know. I don't mean that as a slam of you - there are pockets in the population that still have some modicum of decency, and maybe you are in one of those pockets. I hope you are. The reality too is that younger officials don't have the same "you can...

    Two Officials for JV Game

Disagree with the bolded. Bad behavior is occurring regardless of whether calls are "objectively" good or bad. If the call goes against the fan's team, then by the fan's definition, it was a bad call. Doing a good job likely earns the respect of a large majority of coaches, the other...
