How about this azzclown? Seven years? Time to grow up, dude. When the heck will we be done with all these Covid extensions and get back to 5 years to play 4 seasons? I just saw Tua’s little bro is leaving Maryland for somewhere else if he can get a sixth year of eligibility. Insane.

Eh. They're spring chickens. CSU's kicker was 31. Lol.

Another reason college football sucks now. It really is becoming a farce. I guess I am just too old school and like nothing about these recent changes (NIL, transfer portal, etc...) as well as the changes coming with super conferences, etc.. Live, in person, high school football is the best.

IMHO:
Michigan - "Those who stay will be champions".
Many Other schools - those who transfer will get paid.
Many schools: Michigan, osu, etc.. will NOT pay the big NIL money. Good for them.

College football is not heading in a good direction. And many of us know it.

Well, if you come back to Avon for Week 3 in 2024 you can watch Glenville and Avon go at it again. Should be plenty of excitement for you.

Looking at my 2024 week 3 options right now.
Right now it's between:
Avon at Glenville or Medina at Wadsworth
Lean today: Avon at Glenville

With all due respect to those excellent Medina County programs, there is no decision to make. Watch the highlight packages of the past two Avon vs Glenville games and you’ll be buying your tickets tonight.

Agree...not a fan of any of this. This is where we are at though.

It's early. But I would say it's probably about a 99% chance that's the game I will be going to.

Seven years of college (about to go) down the drain.

4 schools in seven years.

QB Casey Thompson commits to Oklahoma, 4th school in 7 years

Former Texas, Nebraska and FAU quarterback Casey Thompson committed Thursday to Oklahoma, where he will play his seventh season in college football.

Thompson was a graduate student at FAU this year playing for coach Tom Herman, who originally signed him at Texas. He played in three games before tearing an ACL and was granted a medical hardship waiver for one more year.

Thompson, the son of former Oklahoma quarterback Charles Thompson, will return home to Oklahoma where he was a high school star, setting a state record with 12,840 yards of offense and 154 touchdowns. He will be the third player in modern history (joining offensive lineman Paul Moriarty in 1991 and wide receiver Brenen Thompson this spring, both of whom also started out at Texas and transferred to Oklahoma) to have played on both sides of the Red River Rivalry.

Thompson will turn 26 on Oct. 3, nine days before the Sooners and Longhorns meet.

Thompson's winding path began when he chose Texas because Herman made him a priority, he said. Oklahoma already had a commitment from Cam Rising, who eventually flipped and signed with the Longhorns as well before later transferring and becoming a star at Utah.

Thompson redshirted while backing up Sam Ehlinger his first season, then played in seven games for the Longhorns in 2019 and 2020, including a breakout performance in the Alamo Bowl that year. After Ehlinger was injured at halftime with Texas leading 17-10, Thompson came on in relief and threw for 170 yards and four touchdowns to finish off a 55-23 win.

After Herman was fired and Steve Sarkisian took over in 2021, Thompson played in 12 games with 10 starts, throwing for 2,113 yards with 24 touchdowns to nine interceptions. After a 5-7 season, Thompson said he wanted a fresh start, entered the portal and landed at Nebraska.

Thompson started 10 of 12 games for the Huskers in 2022, throwing for 2,407 yards and 17 touchdowns, with five rushing scores. But after Matt Rhule named Jeff Sims the starter, Thompson opted to reunite with Herman at FAU before he was injured.

For his career, Thompson has played in 33 games, completed 63.5% of his passes for 5,338 yards and 52 touchdowns to 24 interceptions.

At Oklahoma he is expected to back up Jackson Arnold, who made his first start in the Alamo Bowl, going 26 of 45 for 361 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in a 38-24 loss to Arizona.

Individual team threads can still discuss it but figured we could have a dedicated thread for discussing general portal news.

Toledo’s Daquan Finn to the portal. Bummer to hear, but I was shocked he didn’t transfer last year. Guy is a baller.

Former ND and current Alabama QB Tyler Buchner enters the portal….as a lacrosse player! Plot twist!

Sadly seems most of Vandy’s best players have entered. Hard to ever build something with that happening every year. They have four 4* transfer players in the portal as well as multi year starting QB AJ Swann.
UGA got their five-star WR!

Maybe this is why. Previously committing to OSU and then flipping to Georgia, now possibly flipping to Nebraska:

Me THINKS we dodged a bullet. He couldn't even win in the GHSA 7A football playoffs. And he was playing with the most talented collection of athletes on the Eastern Seaboard.

Well, to be fair, sometimes having the most talent doesn't result in a win. Look at the Georgia Bulldogs.

And it doesn't help that you're playing with three future NFL draft picks, either sidelined or playing at half speed. I hope you're right about that talent thing. Cause Edrick Houston SHOULDA been a DAWG! But four OTHER Buford boys have come to their senses, since Nicky Satan left for Mara Lago East.

UK continues with the transfer portal QB lifestyle by landing former 5* and former UGA Bulldog Brock Vandergriff. Don’t really get it from Vandergriff’s perspective. No coaching staff connections, not from Kentucky, not like they’ve put up big passing numbers despite having Will Levis and then seeing Leery’s numbers drop dramatically after leaving NC state.
I'll be STUNNED if Brock Vandergriff doesn't START, DAY ONE! I thought that he was going to be the starting UGA QB, after ONE wrong step on the field, from UGA's QB1. Of COURSE, Mark Stoops wouldn't know a quality starter, if it bit him on his pencil pecker. WE sent him the 7A Offensive Player of the Year, a few seasons ago, from our 2014 7A State Championship team. And he sat the bench for FOUR seasons. Not even getting mop up time on a half assed decent team.

Sounds like Michigan’s Kenneth Grant will be in the portal soon. Recently started following a bunch of Texas players and coaches on social media, presumably to reach out.

Supposedly Grant is following Day and Pantoni as well. Could be just screwing with people.
Grant, at the very least, was interested in OSU as a recruit. I might be misremembering but I think if he had ever gotten an offer/green light from the staff he would have committed. OSU told him no then. So I could see it being genuine interest.

You mean like OSU playing Georgia in the playoffs with a depleted running back room, losing their starting tight end, who looked like was going to be a big part of the game plan, early in the game and losing the best player in the nation later in the game and still came within a field goal of winning? Yeah, OSU knows what that is like probably better than anyone. It happened in numerous play off games.
