Will Coach Parker make Moe vs. Princeton a thing again?

Some head coaches brought back and/ or maintained neighborhood rivalries somewhat recently (La Salle had some coaches do this vs. Colerain). The local communities and Cincinnati fans applauded it and most would say that it worked out well. Coach Parker has a history of seeking out very tough opponents (mostly due to not being in a conference) but also due to wanting to play the best any place any time. He played Ed's and the GCL regularly as well as other out of state powerhouses during his tenure at WW. My question is this...Can we eventually count on seeing Moe vs. Princeton come back in week 10 sometime in the near future? Can Coach Parker make this happen despite the obvious scheduling challenges for out of conference games with the limits in the GMC? I think the Cincinnati fans would love to see this-especially if Mark Elder can make Moeller relevant again. If Parker can pull it off-would Moe even be interested in reliving the past? How great would it be to see Foust and Klonne on the sideline across from Mancuso again for old times sakes?

it won’t happen week 10. GMC won’t leave another team without a week 10 game. however, if Princeton stays on track, this could be a weeks 1-3 game.

It could work if people are more flexable. Look at the Big 10. They play a non-conference games at different times.

The easiest way to make it happen would be weeks 1 or 2. Personally I think 8 league games in a 10 week season is too much, but that is another debate.

But if they really wanted it to be Week 10, Princeton would have to get their permanent GMC rival (The team they always play) to agree to play that game in Week 1 or 2. Have the rest of the league play the permanent game in week 10. That way in Week 10 Princeton can play Moeller and their permanent rival play a random team. Probably not going to happen.

It did happen in 2006 when Colerain played in the Herbie Event. The Hervie was week 4 and The Fairfield/Colerain game got moved to week 3. (GMC only played only 7 league games). This let Colerain play in the Herbie in Week 4 and Fairfield randomly played Newark in a one year deal.

it’s different in college because they have flexible bye weeks. in high school, it’s 10 weeks 10 games.

could work, but not ideal for anyone. just play it as a week 1 opener.

Did you even understand where this thread was going, and the Moeller/Princeton traditional rivalry of the 70's thru the 90's?

I can answer for him...YES. It was a joke on how bad Moeller has been recently. The GMC isn't going to give up their blocked in schedule 3-8 for a Moeller-Princeton game that frankly...isn't of much interest to todays students. If they want to play it, play it at the start season when both teams have open dates.

Well aware that they would have to play in week 1 or 2. And don't act like Princeton has been knocking on the door of greatness recently as well. This would be a very good matchup and generate a ton of interest among fan bases.

Princeton seems to have clearly shifted its rivalry focus to Winton Woods. Their fans don't view anyone in the GMC as a rival and they haven't played Moeller in football since 2008. They have a big basketball showcase every year with WW that goes the whole day: ninth grade teams, girls teams, ending with the varsity boys. It's always capacity in both gyms. Can't see it happening anytime soon in football for obvious reasons, but the Moeller/Princeton thing is probably dead and buried at this point.

YES. I realize that! But Coach Parker isn’t worried about a past rilvalry! He is interested in building his program to be able to compete and win on the highest level. Moeller isn’t close currently!

You definitely smokin the good sh it again if you think sorry Moeller will win State before WW or Elder. Keep killing those brain cells!

They have already won 2 titles since Elder last did it, what 20 years ago? Moe is getting better athletes today than Elder. It will start showing up in the W column starting this season and moving on from there.

I see an ECC team... Outside of confrence... (WW would be a great back yard riveraly)...
Then GWOC or GCL that may have open dates. (Most likely GWOC teams)...

The number 1 that should and need to happen is simply Princeton vs. Winton Woods period. Schools only minutes apart, players know each other for the most part, community knows one another. Absolutely no reason or excuse why they don’t play each year. Just make it happen, what a great backyard series this could turn into.

There is a BIG reason why this doesn’t happen! The potential trouble it could bring. Not on the field but off. When they played at Princeton a few years back, a lot went into planning the event. Like keeping the each schools kids from seating on the opposite side. Beefe up police presence and full security staffs from both schools. All administration from both schools etc

Coach Elder is engaging the alumni. Open chats, etc. embracing the past to progress the future. An engaged alumni, means more support. More support means, well let’s just say more of a higher level athlete. 4 years from now I feel they will be up with the rest of DI state
