Big Ten considering multiple domed stadiums as sites for potential winter college football season

Potential sites include Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where the conference currently holds its annual conference championship game. Detroit's Ford Field, Minneapolis' U.S. Bank Stadium and St. Louis' The Dome at America's Center are reportedly also being considered, as is Syracuse's dome. While not going into, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith confirmed to the Dispatch that the Big Ten is considering those sites "and others."

As far as what those other sites might be, the only other domed stadiums within the Big Ten's geographic footprint are Miller Park in Milwaukee, Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome and Northern Michigan's Superior Dome. It's also possible that the Big Ten would consider stadiums outside its footprint, though that could be a lot more difficult to pull off considering travel.

With the new 15 min. covid test how about starting the season in late Sep. Also the BIG big wigs are concerned about covid yet they are entertaining the thought of playing games in indoor stadiums, what a laugh.

I'm hoping they play this Fall sometime but this just doesn't make any sense.

The only reason I can see doing it this way is to possibly prevent transfers from happening this Fall.

There is a lot of worry in the ACC that their "Yankee" wing might be starting to re-think playing in September. ND's President still wants students in class before they will play football games and came out with plan today to ease back starting 9/2 but they need to make sure that no more out breaks occur. It also looks like BC, Syracuse, and Pitt Admin are not too thrilled about playing games. One decent sized break out either on the team or just the general student population and these schools will start the dominoes tumbling. If you remember it was lowly Ball State and the MAC that got this thing rolling in July. But then again the ACC is now Clemson's league and if they want to play in early fall they will figure out a way to get it done.

Because they lost all their money games when conferences went to conference only schedules. They would have played if it were not for that.

Maybe. Just man up and play in the Fall like your supposed to. If HS can do it the Big 10 and the other wimp conferences can as well.

This plan makes zero sense. Anything that doesn't allow for the league champ to have any chance to compete for a national championship is JV ball.

Time to nut up and admit they jumped the gun on cancelling, and aim for a start around October 1st.
