Confirmed Covid Shutdowns- OHIO

Ohio literally is not seeing any spike in cases, probably because they are not doing more testing. Texas and Florida, which are being grilled by the liberals, are testing more people per day than the rest of the country combined, hence the "surges" in those two states.

Great, and Texas and Florida have shutdown near 100 of their athletic programs. In four weeks time football will start?

Our numbers ARE surging, 4th highest case count since this all started.

You can agree with it or not, schools are crapping pants right now because any plan they initially had when things looked much better even a week ago is being second guessed. No one knows what to do. If we hit over a 1,000 cases in one day, which could very easily happen at 2:30pm today, I’d argue the weekend would brew a world of problems for next week, one of the most popular travel weeks of the whole year.

Also, wake up, majority of those in education, LIBERAL.

We aren't Texas or Florida. We aren't a state where people vacation. And we are a very mixed state of liberal and conservative people.

Our numbers are surging because tests (skewed by when they are reported and not real time reporting) came in for one day?

We have seen mass gatherings......and yes. I won't be politically correct. Its from protests. Those gatherings are the likes of having every college football stadium in Ohio filled on a daily basis. In smaller towns, they are the equivalent of having high school gyms filled up. We are seeing testing ramped up (while Dewine won't directly say it, we have more test results coming in because they finally figured it out).

The education sector knows that they cannot provide e-learning in a normal capacity, and to be frank, the teachers absolutely hate it. They have to work out of office hours, just to keep kids on track. They are working intermittently from 7am to 9pm or beyond. Its a burden to them. The education sector wants kids back in school. I have no doubt about that. Its a blatant fact uttered by all of our teachers. They want school in session.

My friend...we are three weeks from seeing what those states are now, where do you think the people vacationing in our state are heading? Pennsylvania? Nope, Southeast US.

At this point I think hybrid learning in August would be a surprise in Ohio, especially if numbers keep going up.

Feel free to make fun of Canada all you want. The point really was that they have shut the borders to the US because of the horrendous shape we are in as well as how pathetically we have handled this PANDEMIC. Yes I wrote PANDEMIC. And I don't blame them.
It's not a pandemic. It is a DEMPANIC.

What numbers are you referring to? I think we have covered this. What we have learned is what matters most is hospitalizations and deaths. Can you give us those numbers? Since May 15 C-19 has been credited for an average of 22 deaths per day. In 2017 Ohioans died from heart disease or Respiratory disease at a rate of 96 deaths per day for the entire year. I mention this only to ask, how many of those 22 per day would fall into the 96 per day for those diseases? I would like to know to see that actually increase in Ohio deaths that c-19 has caused.

Matters to who, you? Why do you think we now have 7 schools across the state currently shut down? You can believe what's important and what's not. Admin is concerned about the cases going up, high case counts and increased hospitalization (as discussed by DeWine yesterday) is causing concern. While it might not be in your city, Hamilton County and Dayton area it's not looking good. Your opinion doesn't matter, my opinion doesn't matter, the media's opinion does with all the crazy people in this state and dictates the decisions made in school districts. I feel like we can say this 100 times and still, a dozen people do not understand this. It's not hard.

For example, why do you think they are discussing mandating masks this time around? TX\FL is stepping backwards and shutting things down? Because your opinion on cases and hospitalization increasing not mattering but death rate most matters? I think it's time for you to return to the moon.

It's June, all schools are shut down. To answer your question I think it matters largely to those of us who directly tested positive or have family that tested positive and did NOT become a part of the hospital stat or death stat. Testing positive is something to track and be concerned about for sure, but knowing Ohio currently has over 44,000 accumulative confirmed tests and 2500 reported deaths because of it which 2300 were over the age of 60.

Ohio is actually ranked 12th as a tourist destination. Riding roller coasters, fishing, and bird watching are all pretty big under normal conditions.
It would be safe to say we are much lower than that in June of 2020 since the roller coaster parks are closed.

What is Canada's population compared to US?
The US has 11 times the population of Canada and reportedly 15 times the number of covid deaths.

Canada has 3.2 times the population of Ohio and 3.1 times the number of covid deaths. So comparatively the same.

NYC has triple the population of Toronto and 2.5 times the population density. I'm going to guess that if you exclude the NYC metropolitan area, since there is nothing comparable in Canada, the covid rates in Canada and the USA are about the same.

Do you want the testing to cut back so we can pretend there isn't a problem? I haven't had a cavity in 3 years mainly because I haven't gone to the dentist
You really think dentists give people cavities? How about you haven't gone to the dentist in 3 years mainly because you haven't had a cavity. That makes more sense.

I'm not sure how much is due to Restaurants opening up or with the protests (which people have a right to do) riots ( which is criminal) or looting (which is criminal). Are there any stats about how many people were infected by this.
Because many states opened up in April and the first of May and cases went down. But a few weeks after the protests, riots, and looting we are seeing a spike. I'm just curious if they keep stats on that.

I have a feeling those things added to this surge. But people are claiming that it's not a real risk because we haven't seen a large surge...doesn't really make sense to me

No I don't think dentist give cavities. But they diagnosis them. If I don't visit then he is unable to tell me I have any. Believe me, I have a mouth full of them that I neglect.

If we dont start wearing masks ,social distancing the number will climb and things will be shut down.Hospitials are starting to feel the pinch ,10-12 day grace period , and we will be in a show . you spin it anyway it still comes up virus and limited school, no high school sports and a whole bunch of nothing in the fall.

Thanks for that info. So what you are saying is 1/3 of the total population of Canada spread out over the entire country is similar to that amount of people living in Ohio which is maybe 1/100th of the size. We had discovered the areas with lower population density were less affected.

Nope. Set the 1 day record yesterday in the US.
Show some proof then. You’ve said it four different times in this thread but have not provided one single link or news article to back up your claim. You must be the only person in the country with access to this info because I haven’t seen it anywhere, even with the over-abundance of corona fear porn the news spits out every day.

Feels like just yesterday...actually thing it was two days ago, Texas' governor was encouraging MLB teams in the state that they should be able to have fans. today he shut down the bars. Florida has also shut down their bars for on site consumption during the uptick in cases. Those are probably the two biggest HS football hotbeds in the country and they're not close to having football.

Nope. Set the 1 day record yesterday in the US.

Total reported deaths to date June 24: 126,131. Total on June 25: 126,780 according to worldometers According to google, 644 deaths were reported yesterday. One of the lowest daily totals since March.

I did look it up. And you guys are right. It was not the highest death total yesterday. I was pretty sure that I heard it on the news yesterday. My bad, I was wrong. My apologies.

Now there is your problem. Stop watching the news and you will fell so much better about life. Go to websites that have the raw data and come to your own conclusions. Don't let the media and politicians do the thinking for you.
Yes, they need to black out those CNN type channels for starters. Lol

It was our local news I was watching. I simply misunderstood what was said.

You're being kind to your local news. For reasons that defy explanation the news was trying to make you think that increases in cases equals increases in deaths. The panic over increasing cases only makes sense if there were increasing deaths.
