Exciting 1st round matchup! It will be interesting to see what changes Tallmadge makes going into this game. I would say that Tallmadge has had a balance defense this season. They have been able to stop the run and pass against some teams and have struggled against others (particularly Highland). Tallmadge rotates a number of players on defense that are athletic and hard hitters. Not positive but it appears they will continue to miss their all-state defensive end. That was a tough loss for the defense a few weeks ago.
Looking forward to this game.
From a fan’s perspective, I would say Chardon isn’t more dominant defensively in one aspect more than the other. Teams have been able to do both at times against us. If it were me, I’d rather face a more prominent running team.Anyone know what Chardon's weakness is on defense?
Tallmadge tries to pass the ball a little more than run it but has more success on the ground. Tallmadge will run 4 different running backs (Maclean, Kanatzar, Cuva, and Miles). Their passing game hasn't really gotten going yet. They have had some success in a couple of the blowouts. Their best WR is Reifsnyder (#1). He's a deep threat that can make acrobatic catches. Is Chardon more susceptible to the pass or run? I think Tallmadge will try to exploit whichever is weaker.
The key to beating Chardon is a 5 man dline, and u don’t want penetration.Play even with the line of scrimmage.when u get penetration they cut up inside.when I played against them 35+ years ago our coach said “ you hit that QB every play weather he has the ball or not and by the 2nd quarter he won’t want to carry it and that’s one less ball carrier we have to worry about”Chardon looks to be the overwhelming favorite in the poll.
Looking forward to traveling to Chardon. Hopefully the weather is not a factor in the game.
