Is he still at Salem? Wasn’t a fan of his defensive coordinator and his offense but eventually they learned to execute the offense when he had the right talentThis was my first thought, the last coach with a winning record against Massillon, has great numbers out at his new school, teams are extremely disciplined, has produced great results all things considered. There's no shot he is even considered for the job but I can't think of many more realistic options that would be better for the Bulldogs
Bill Belichick is on his way to college too.Tyrell is headed to college you can forget him.
He was seen at all but oneI’m not even sure if the superintendent attended the football games this year. Does anyone know? I don’t believe he thinks it’s a big deal. I could be wrong.
He is staying hereBill Belichick is on his way to college too.
He only did that because they offered his girlfriend a free dorm and tuition...lolBill Belichick is on his way to college too.
Well I know he got an eyeful of the disaster. He was seen at all but one
Tim Tyrell is staying in the area and most likely he is the next HCHe is staying here
Rotsky would be the worst possible solution for a place that seems to have a lot of drama in the first place. It seems like a longshot that McKinley would be able to lure Tyrell from Hoban, but you may as well try and see if he's interested. After all, the worst he can say is no, right?
More seriously, there are two coaches I would contact if I were McKinley, both of whom have had tremendous success as head coaches at urban schools. The first is Maurice Douglass of Springfield, who has led the Cats to the D1 finals three times and previously won titles at Trotwood Madison. I remember last year there was speculation that he would take a job at one of the Olentangy schools. Springfield had its worst year since he's been there, so perhaps their run of strong classes has come to an end. Maybe he's looking to leave? This would be a home run hire for the Pups.
The other coach is Jeff Rotsky currently at Cleveland VASJ, and previously of Cleveland Heights and Euclid. He seems to switch jobs a lot, and has gotten in trouble for recruiting before, but the guy wins wherever he goes.
I wouldn't be excited about Stephens or Powers. Cleveland Heights has been a lot like McKinley the last few years, a ton of D1 talent but never quite lives up to expectations. In 2022 Heights had an epic meltdown in the playoffs vs Ignatius, and in 2023 they got upset by a Medina team they had previously beaten. As for Powers, Buchtel declined quite a bit in his last few years there, and he certainly hasn't turned Brush around.
If you really want to think outside the box, maybe take a look at the coaches at West Branch and Indian Valley. Those guys do nothing but win.
Good luck to the Pups. Your school has a lot of talent, hopefully you find the man who can get the most out of it.
Trotwood and Springfield are open enrollment....The Indian Valley Coach has been there 18 years...I do not see him leaving a small school to McKinleyIt seems like a longshot that McKinley would be able to lure Tyrell from Hoban, but you may as well try and see if he's interested. Rotsky’s day job keeps him on the east side of Cleveland. He’s also not the answer for longtermIt seems like a longshot that McKinley would be able to lure Tyrell from Hoban, but you may as well try and see if he's interested. After all, the worst he can say is no, right?

Is it no longer against the rules for players to follow a coach to his new school?Matt Lancaster just won a State Championship with a school about 40 minutes south of Canton. May be worth taking a crack at see if you can pull him away from that. He brings everyone back and hopes to repeat but a job like this might get him away from Indian Valley and if they go open enrollment may pull a few kids with him
They would have to sit out but they could move to canton. I am sure theres apartments for rent in Canton for a few kidsIs it no longer against the rules for players to follow a coach to his new school?
went to watch my cousins son play flag football ( 1st/2nd grade) at Jackson Youth Football Fields and they had at least 10 games going on at the same time ...Mck youth program for football needs rebuilt . So does GlenOakAs much as people want open enrollment, for the long term success the coach needs to increase the participation of those already in CCS. You need to make kids want to play even if they aren’t getting any playing time. A big reason why Jackson is slowly getting better is their numbers are over 100 kids. McKinley needs to get their number to around 80-90 and getting kids committed starts at the younger levels.
Excellent point. McKinley HS, having the 10th or 11th largest student body in Ohio, increased participation in football is critical. Like anywhere else, the kids have to be energized and excited to come out for the Varsity, JV and Freshman teams. The next HC must be equipped as a dynamic leader to get that done. If I am not mistaken, the last period of time McKinley consistently had 85-95 kids on the football team was during the Ron Johnson era.As much as people want open enrollment, for the long term success the coach needs to increase the participation of those already in CCS. Son, please relax. Santa Claus will be here in a couple of weeks. There is more chance of that than Tyrell going anywhere NEAR McKinley. If open enrollment becomes a reality, and Tyrrell lands the HC position, the direction of the Bulldog football program will change significantly, and in a hurry!!
I was thinking about Rotsky as well. But ,1) prob lives to far away 2) would only last a season or 2 bc he will tell people to go f themselves who try to tell him how to do his job. He would make Mck win though .He as gone to WAY worse programs and turned them around in short timeIt seems like a longshot that McKinley would be able to lure Tyrell from Hoban, but you may as well try and see if he's interested. Don’t forget Rotsky is a wealthy man. He could buy a neighborhood in canton and go back home when the school board didn’t like how he did his job after winning 150 consecutive gamesI was thinking about Rotsky as well. Thanks....I wondered if anybody was going to read it....lolOK, this one is epic.
First call should be Zach Slates .
It happened at Hoover and there were no penalties. Is it no longer against the rules for players to follow a coach to his new school?
Wrong again. I have connections to Canton as a youngster but am not a Mck fan . I a Stark County fan but my teams are Avon , and Hoban .Im north of Canton now . Read Pettimore read. feed your brain .comprehension can always improve even for old relicsYou've already blown your cover as a "McKinley fan", this just solidifies it.

Tyrell gone be under the treeSon, please relax. Santa Claus will be here in a couple of weeks. There is more chance of that than Tyrell going anywhere NEAR McKinley.
Making the district open enrollment doesn't change the fact that McKinley is in the city of Canton. Generally speaking, parents don't enroll their kids in a district that is worse than the district that they live in.What has to happen first is the Canton City Schools adopt an open enrollment policy.
