OVC, I don't know how you could say the Patriots would be a wildcard contender without Brady. Maybe if they still had Cassell.

Ryan Mallet looked pretty solid in preseason. Take Brady out and he could still lead them to an ok record. The defense isn't that bad, anyway. It has more to do with always being on the field and always having to defend against teams that are always passing than actual defensive incompetence.

I'm going to throw this out there....I honestly think Peyton Manning deserves to be MVP. I've never seen 1 player be so valuable to a team. Tom Brady is as valuable, if he's out NE has the 1st pick in the following draft just like Indy.

It's a team game, not a one player team. If one player causes a complete collapse of a team when you team is stocked with some all-pro players on the roster such as Indy has, then it falls on the coach. Coach Bill in New England would not have a complete collapse like Indy has had this season.

 Thank you. I can't agree with this more. BTW, NE did survive a Tom Brady injury in game one a few years ago and didn't hit rock bottom. A certain guy named Cassel took over and led them to an 11-5 record although they missed the playoffs.

First off, If they gave Peyton MVP then it would open up a whole nother can of worms. For an example, what happens when a player retires and the team he retires from falls apart the following year. Does he deserve to get MVP even after he retires?

My own personal opinion, the MVP has to do one of two things this year.
He either is part of the winning Super Bowl team or he breaks a record. That said, at the moment I have Drew Brees edging out Aaron Rogers however the jury is still out on this matter. This is the reason I haven't voted yet and have the poll set up to remain open till a couple of days after the Super Bowl.

The MVP is awarded on performance, not speculation. Manning didn't play, so we have no earthly idea of what kind of performance he would have had.

I'm sure Chase Daniels can lead the Saints too! Manning DID NOT PLAY in 2011. Nobody is arguing his value to his team, but he should not win an award as the NFL MVP because his team was plum terrible without him.

I want someone to prove that Manning WOULD have had a year that warrants consideration. I want proof that the Colts WOULD have won over 10games, captured the division and positioned themselves for a SB run. I want proof that Manning would have posted MVP numbers.

You can't "prove" an opinion.

He did it for a bazillion straight years. If he does it again next year, then you have to retroactively give Peyton the 2011 MVP award. If they suck again next year with him, then you have a case against him.

I can picture ol' longneck himself going up to Rodgers and Brees in 2013 and going .. "dude, where's MY trophy?"

That's my point. It's speculation. You can't give a guy an award because you "thought" he would do something.
My point is you and I both can use whatever criteria we wish to come to any conclusion. Nobody here actually thinks Manning will get or even deserves the award. But everyone at least once this year while watching the Colts slide so far so fast without their star, thought just how "valuable" he really truly has been. So why does anyone else care if people think Peyton deserves consideration? Good news is despite the whining, none of us are wrong. BTW how much weight does the NFL give our Yappi poll?

I don't disagree that his being hurt was a huge problem for the Colts.

Don't kid yourself if you think people on here aren't serious when they say he should get the award. And I'm adding my two cents just like everyone else. And trust me, I'm not at all butthurt about this. It's actually pretty humorous.

As for the NFL, you have to ax them.

But he is the most valuable to his team out of anyone.

And that's only because of the Colts lack of planning for not having an adequate backup qb ready to take his place in case something was to happen to him which is why the gm got fired.

Now with the patriots when something happen to Bledsoe who did they go to? Brady when something happen to Brady, who did the patriots go to? Cassel. When something happen to Payton they didn't have anyone that they were confident in so what did they do? They paniced and out of desperation they paid too much for a guy to come out of retirement.

Which of these players is most valuable to their team?

Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Peyton

I don't see how you can't answer Peyton. Hence, he is the most valuable player out of those guys.
