I think this entire lacrosse forum should stop worrying so much about club lax. No one cares! Its all about D1 so can everyone stop making such a big deal out of it. We know that all of our JV teams could beat most of those club teams so stop worrying about it...NO ONE IS DANGEROUS IN CLUB SOUTH

LAX is fairly new to most High Schools. Ya gotta start somewhere. May I suggest that you stay out of the Club forum. Your right it's all about D1, but I for one care about club cause that's where my kid plays at the moment. I'm sure many other players, coaches and kids care about it as well. So chill and read your D1 forum.

Before you start embarassing Mason by acting like you have any clue, I can name a few club guys that are better than most if not all that Mason has right now. With Craig hurt and the lack of scoring punch (Barnes and Slattery each only averaged around 2.0/game), Mason is a second tier D1 South team right now.

Yes, Scotty is awesome and so is Gabe, but if Elder, Kings and East had not gotten in, Mason would have been at or near the bottom again. X, Moe, IH and Sycamore will all hang 12 to 20 on the Comets. They have a rough 2+ weeks from 4/4 to 4/21, where they could easily give up 60 to 80 goals in 5 games.

Thanks to both "Mason Comets" & "Between the Lines", I appreciate you stepping up to remind "CincyLax55" that the purpose of these forums is not to trash talk, or brag. What's more important here is expanding the growth of lacrosse, and supporting the boys who play the game. Doesn't matter what Division a team is in until the State recognizes it as a sanctioned sport anyway.
Just to educate "CincyLax55" a bit, Mason, (refering to his "Go Comets" comment), went .500 against Club teams the last three years. Also, some Club teams (ie: Anderson, Milford), fare very well against some of the D1 schools, and occasionally in the past have beat one of the big boys, (IH, St. X, Sycamore). So enough trash talking "Club" Lax!!

eh I agree with you alax except for Anderson. They have a great program and because of their history I wouldn't be suprised if they had a great year, but based off last year and what I know coming into this year I'm not sure they crack the top 3. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they lost to both Little Miami and Centerville last year. That being said Milford will continue to impress and DLC has some great senior middies in Kauth, Kronberg, and Ritzenthaler, etc.

Mason Comets: I totally agree that the comments about Club Lacrosse by CinciLax were inappropriate & obviously not very well thought out. Mason has gotten spanked by several Club programs over the past few years. Most recently very good teams from Anderson and Milford.

I would respectfully disagree with you on using the term "second tier" team for Mason this year. Although very young, I think they might surprise some people. Contrary to popular opinion on this site, Mason does have some good talent other than Spencer, Shreve and Craig. Barnes, Slattery, Russos and Schaeffer were only Sophomores last year. They also have some very good sophomores this year in Bertrams and Henson. No doubt Mason will miss Craig, but he was not exactly a scoring machine either, especially against good competition.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Mason will be challenging for the top spot in Cinci this year, but I think they will be more competetive this year, and possibly challenge next year.

Second tier was not meant to be a negative, they just are not in a position to challenge the 1st tier teams yet. I place X, Moe, Indian Hill & Sycamore in that tier with Mason, West & Loveland in that 2nd level. Kings, Elder & East in the lower tier.

Just not sure where Mason gets it scoring from this year? Jordan & Shannon are the leading returning points guys. Bertrams and Henson only scored 15 goals combined last year. I do like both those kids and Puckett as well. Just not sure if they are ready to step up and take control of the scoring. Could be a growing year.

I really think next year will be the year to watch the Comets. A year older for those guys, plus Nick Lewis with a year under his belt. Robling & Osika will battle for time as well. Not sure about the 7th grade down. Brown & Patterson are the best bets below 8th grade.

Don't even think those post season awards, & / or tournament seedings were close to legit last year. The entire meeting was a joke, with the coaches not even considering individual statistics, or factoring in schedules into their "decisions", (one coach even seeded Milford as the # 8 team in the the Club South Division). There was a bias against a few teams / players because those teams chose to play a tougher schedule than others. I definitely would not use last season's "awards" as a barometer for sucess this year . . . lets just see how it plays out on the field as the season progresses!!

Orange,
Thanks. When & where is this coaches meeting held. I assume that all of the teams in a specific division are represented? I'm familiar with how the HS Baseball stuff (Politics, and more politics) works! Why would LAX be any different?

Between the lines . . . The meeting is held towards the very end of the season, just before the playoffs. Yes, each division has there own meeting, and each team is supposed to be represented, (although at last year's meeting, some team's representatives just didn't even show up, even though its supposedly "mandatory").
And yes, there is alot of politics involved, very subjective.

Since it seems like most coaches aren't posting scrimmage scores on OHSLA, feel free to post them here, but please include how close it was played compared to an actual game (i.e were there refs, did the regulars play, etc.)

This was a couple weeks ago...
Centerville won in OT against Springboro although the score might have been miscounted there were refs

And last weekend
Centerville beat Wilmington 16-2:9 wilmington players were suspended; not a fair match-up-one ref (student)
