What volleyball team do you follow?

I know that some people like to only read, but this is one of the easiest posts to respond to. We need to know that there are a number of volleyball fans on here and where they are from. So let's hear what teams or leagues that you follow...

I follow the North Coast League teams...especially Mentor Lake Catholic (GO COUGARS!!!) Actually, any high school team from NE Ohio gets my attention!!!:D

I follow the Huron Tigers...

2001-State Final Four
2000-State Runner Up
1999- State Division III Champs
1998-Regional Runner Up
1997-Regional Semi finalist

with all 6 starters back...2002 is glowing bright...... now if the volleyball gods would look over us.....we'll be in good shape.

check us out online, update coming in mid august

MVL

The Muskingum Valley League consist of ten teams centered around the Zanesville, OH area. Tri-Valley, Maysville, John Glenn, Sheridan, New Lexington, Crooksville, River View, Philo, Morgan, and my alma mater and favorite West Muskingum.

League play will be very exciting this year. I'm taking Tri-Valley and River View as #1 and #2 respectively. New Lexington and Crooksville #9 and #10, and teams #3 through #8 are very close, it's tough to say what will happen there.

I will have an MVL Volleyball Round-up article on the new MVL Sports Online site in the near future (http://on.to/mvlsports). Also, my predictions are posted at the MVLounge (a forum like this designed for fans of the MVL, we have college and pro sports too. http://pub59.ezboard.com/bthemvlounge).

Lady Patriots

LiddleBuddy,

I don't have any info on the Lady Patriots just yet. I'll try and ask around.

How's campus life? OSU as I recall is where your going?

RW&B 71- It's pretty slow, boring, and WARM here at OSU. I've been keeping busy by helping out with the OSU volleyball camps. Campus gets a little crazy sometimes, especially around lunchtime when all the sports campers are let out for lunch. I've already battled over 100 little lacrosse players ;)

Keep cool LiddleBuddy and we'll try and do the same here.

I'm heading for New Orleans in early August so this heat may not seem so bad after I get back *G*

P.S. Know anyone looking for a job coaching high school gymnastics? Patrick Henry is looking for a head coach in that sport.

RW&B 71-

How was New Orleans? My sister and her husband were just there last weekend. They had a blast.

Is it pretty nice up north this week? It's been beautiful here! Perfect beach volleyball weather!

I heard about the gymnastics coaching opening. Can't say that I know anyone that's into coaching gymnastics. Sorry!

How do you think the Lady Patriots will do without the Zgelas, Rosebrook, and Sonnenberg? I know for a fact that the Z's will be very VERY tough to replace. I'm not sure there's much strength in the girls, at least it's not as evident as it was in the Z's.

Boy oh Boy...you should see Serena Urdiales of Holgate hit. She is phenomonal! Rothman is still an amazing athlete and a great setter. Thomas is awesome when her head is in the game.

Update

LiddleBuddy,

Sorry, but I still haven't had a chance to get any feedback from the local v-ball fans. One thing I have noticed in recent years which you alluded to, the PH girls overall don't seem to have as much upper body strength as some of the other teams they compete with. I'm not sure if the other teams do more weightlifting???

New Orleans was fantastic, I only regret not spending more than 4 days there. I'd like to go back for a whole week's vacation.

The Wadsworth Grizzleys and the Suburban League teams in general.
wouldn't it be "grizzlies?" i remember my sophomore year the cheerleaders made a poster and hung it in our gym that said "beat the grizzles!" needless to say, at halftime i tore off the last part.
yahtzee, wasn't it cool how tallmadge man-handled wadsworth? ;)

SaD,

Did you post that on your bad day? If so, it's ok. If not, you are being a bit harsh even with the ";)".

no, i posted that today. i don't think it was harsh at all. beating wadsworth is one of the finer points of life. they take every opportunity to rub losses in our face, so i love to do the same. plus, i was only have serious. yahtzee can get me back come week 4.

I follow my alma mater Spencerville, and the Lady Cats Volleyballers. They have a new coach this year in a lady by the name of Janeatte Vaughn, who played college ball at I believe Ohio State, and was an all american I have heard she is also a graduate of St. Henry High School.

That is O.K. MCGal. I am not someone who takes this type of thing so seriously that I would get upset about S.A.D. poking a little fun at my expense. I know you have had to deal with quite a few people on here who are thin skinned so I appreciate you stepping in on my behalf, but no harm done. S.A.D. As far as the Grizzlies(notice the correct spelling:) ) being manhandled by Tallmadge in Volleyball, it is what I expected to happen. Wadsworth's Volleyball program is awful! I am a fan of Wadsworth, but unlike some other posters such as........(I will let you fill in the blank here :)), I am realistic and will always be willing to admit when a team is better than us at a sport. That is certainly the case with Volleyball here. I would like to think though that Wadsworth will at some point make a change because this should not be the case. I hope it is in the next year as my Daughter's class is not only dominating in basketball, but Volleyball as well. We were undefeated in V-ball last year and so far this year has been no different. In 3 matches we have yet to be challenged. Tallmadge, Norton, and Copley were all easy 2 game wins. Just for you S.A.D. the Tallmadge scores were 15-4 and a close 17-15. A little scare in the last game as our second team played very poorly, but gutted it out for the win. The Tallmadge team has some athletes and will be good down the road, but they do not yet look as though they play as a unit and the confusion this causes hurts them. Lastly, I hope it is not me that you are referring to S.A.D. as far as rubbing it in when we beat Tallmadge. From what I remember I was one of the few who continually PRAISED and DEFENDED you guys when we swept you in Baseball and predicted at the outset that you would win the D-2 Championship--check the old Baseball posts. :D

and i hope it's not me that you're refering to when you say i can't admit when a team is better than us. because even in that post i said wadsworth was going to kill us in football.

It is all good S.A.D., I was not referring to you, just a general comment on some of the ultra biased posters. I hardly think though that "yahtzee can get me back come week 4" constitutes saying Wadsworth is going to kill you in football. :D I think that is a bit of a stretch and that just may be a very good game.

Just a little update on the 8th Grade Lady Grizzlies. They improved to 4-0 with a win over Green yesterday 15-7, 15-8. Green also has a nice team with quite a few good players, but again did not show the consistent team play of the Little Grizzlies.(Hey S.A.D., look how good I am getting at this spelling thing!) Ey gess huked on foniks izs worckin fore mee.

Thanks for the nice words about Green. Coach Feller is really starting to build a good program at Green and it's showing at all levels.
