What are you watching?

Could be a lot worse,,,,

translation: I don't tell my kid what I did in college.

Enjoy your visit. tell the kid to avoid season 3 episode 9 of Person of Interest. I could see what was coming and stopped a couple episodes short, then powered on. It's really not the same show.

First your translation is spot on. Second I wondered when you would get that far, I almost quit the show after that episode, I was devastated. I really might have been done if season 3 episode 10 "The Devil's Share" had not been one of the most bad a## gratifying hours of TV ever to grace the small screen. It is a different show now, but there are still quite a few good episodes left and some really neat characters yet to meet.

Just heard the little ditty at the end of ep 7 on Wandavision is currently No. 5 on the Top 100 singles chart on iTunes. It is also a viral sensation, inspiring remixes, covers, TikToks and memes. Disney sure knows how to suck every possible $ out of a show...

Me and the Misses just rewatched POI season 1 episode 7 Witness. Pretty funny watching it when you know how things turn out.

I still have a season and a half to go. I'll give it a look when I'm done to see what you're referring to. These writers that really plan things out (generally referred to as not GOT) make their shows very rewatchable.

Gran Torino (2008)

Probably my 10th time watching this film. Hits a bit closer to home each time as my mom tells me there's a lot of gang conflict between the Asian refugees and long time black residents in the Finneytown section of Cincinnati where she lives now.

Don't know what kind of political message Clint Eastwood was going for with this film but it turned out remarkable regardless. Still a must view film in 2021.

Gunga Din

This is the first film that ever made me tear-up; when they bury him,
made in 1939, I saw it on TV mid 1950s (I was 10 or 11 at the time).

Gunga Din (water barer) blows the bugle warning the relief column of the ambush...
...

'E carried me away
To where a dooli lay,
An' a bullet come an' drilled the beggar clean.
'E put me safe inside,
An' just before 'e died:
"I 'ope you liked your drink," sez Gunga Din.
So I'll meet 'im later on
At the place where 'e is gone—
Where it's always double drill and no canteen;
'E'll be squattin' on the coals,
Givin' drink to poor damned souls,
An' I'll get a swig in hell from Gunga Din!
Yes, Din! Din! Din!
You Lazarushian-leather Gunga Din!
Though I've belted you and flayed you,
By the living Gawd that made you,
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!'

by Rudyard Kipling

Gunga Din played by Sam Jaffe: he also played on TV 'Dr.Zorba' (series 'Ben Casey')';
he had a supporting roles in 'Ben Hur', and a notable role as Dr.Barnhard (ala Einstine)
in 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'.

I'm half way through Seaon 3 of Peaky Blinders and am loving it. It's The Soprano's meets Downtown Abby & Macbeth. It's ridiculously entertaining with a cast of great characters and cool historical situations.

For All Mankind. Waited a few episodes so I could get a good streaming afternoon in. Honestly, It's probably the space topic more than the execution that keeps me watching but it's still good enough.

Googling best of lists for sci-fi tv and came across "Resident Alien." High imdb rating so gave first episode a try. Seems like it could only go cliches. A few characters already that I want to slap. Still, liked it enough to give it a longer try.

Have you checked out the Korean movie Space Sweepers I talked about? If you need some great SciFi this might fit the bill. It's on Netflix and there's an English dubbed version. Good special effects and a decent story. And the Koreans always bring extra energy to their movies.

Sounds like it would be a funny show. I sort of remember an American or British show along the same lines, space garbage collectors. Unfortunately, I don't do subtitles well. Don't have the eyes and attention span for it, lol. I'll probably give it a shot though, let you know what I thought.

"Ah, but the strawberries! That's--that's where I had them."

Lt. Barney Greenwald:
"If you wanna do anything about it, I'll be outside.
I'm a lot drunker than you are, so it'll be a fair fight."

Babylon 5. Still early in Season One. Not liking it as much as I recall when it first came out but better able to see the story build. Little hints even in early episodes.

Started watching Billions. About half was through the first season. Damian Lewis is a fine actor. In this one he plays a billionaire hedge fund head very convincingly. That's range when you can go from Richard Winters to Bobby Axelrod. He was also great in Homeland. I'd also forgotten how good Paul Giamatti can be.

I saw season 1 but have not really had any interest going beyond that. I liked the cast but I was not too sold on the story, not very believable and I am tiring on the whole everyone has a dirty secret trope.

Is this the only Clint film where his character dies in the end?

That bummed me out. I would have rather seen him spray the gang with gunfire, then have the camera pan back from way up on a crane.

I just blew through Chernobyl, what a great miniseries. Talk about a well acted compelling story that showed how the sausage was made during this disaster. I think it should be must watch viewing for all the followers of Bernie and AOC to see how a Socialist style Government morphs and always puts the end decided by the elites in charge before basically everything else.

I'm starting to get that "give me a break" feeling. Too many unbelievable things, not the least of which is the firm psych being married to the DA.

I really liked Damian Lewis in a short lived drama series called "Life" about a wrongfully convicted cop who gets out and gets his job back, also had Sara Shahi from Person of interest, playing his partner.

Damian Lewis also got a dream gig, a nice 1 day shoot playing the King of Cool in Hollywood Steve McQueen.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm about due for a rewatch. Your first time watching? Ask about anyone that's worked in the government. If you think we're any less prone to cover-up, I got a bridge to sell. I think something to take out of the mini-series was that there were those willing to say the truth and it did get said.

According to The Christian Science Monitor correspondent Fred Weir, "Everybody [in Russia and Ukraine] seems to agree that the miniseries goes overboard with its characters, depicting Soviet officials and plant management as too evil and conniving".[43] Russian documentary producer Oleg Voinov who made a film about the Chernobyl disaster said that Chernobyl is "wonderfully shot, professionally edited, and the special effects are great. But it doesn't come close to reflecting reality.

It was a tv show, not a fact-checked documentary. It panders to those that want to hear what they want to hear. If they'd presented a show of soviet government officials that were actually caring human beings, it would have been a ratings tank in the west.

Really like his acting. Both mentioned actually. Thanks, I'll put it on my watch list.
