Week 9: St. Ignatius

Plus the Wildcats have a scoring in weapon in junior kicker Declan Mangan. Mangan had 53 yard and 56 yard FGs vs Akron Hoban and a 49 yard FG vs. St. Edward

Attempted 2 field goals in a driving rain, one from 46 in the first half to get the Wildcats on the board and from 48 yards at the end of the game to force overtime. The first one went wide left and the second was about 6 yards short. Both would have been fantastic kicks given the circumstances and conditions

For a deep playoff run the offense has to be efficient and productive which requires
1. A healthy Kirby back at right guard and Uhl back at center when his broken right hand heals.
2. Secondary receivers produce when Clifford/Lang are covered/doubled (Need Maier and Smith back by Week 11)
3. Rueve continue to scramble for yardage when given an open field
4. Newman and company continue to be productive (75 rushing yards per game)

1. Kirby still out, Uhl still at left guard. Gave up a season high 4 sacks.
Blocked well enough to give Rueve time to connect 26 times and Newman to rush for 77 yards

2. Clifford and Lang combined for 15 catches for 185 yards and 1 TD.
The Interception went through Lang's hands (wet conditions) and into a Wildcat defender's 5 yards from the end zone.
Britt and Smith (back in the lineup after sitting out 2 games) had a combined for 10 catches and 89 yards.
Just need Maier back for 3 solid alternatives.

3. Crucial 20 yard scramble for a 1st down on the 1st TD drive

4. Newman 17 carries for 77 yards and 1 TD
