Week 7: Elder vs. Moeller

Moeller has had Elder's number the last 2 years. Moeller QB Pontakowski is playing very, very well. I would love to see Elder pull the upset considering the last 2 year results, but Pontakowski and the Moeller front on defense will be the difference. Elder is also having trouble stopping the run without Arnold and Guidugli. Stack the box and stop the run and Pontakowski will pick them apart. Play pass and Pontakowski will probably find his WR in a tight spot with a perfect throw, or Moeller takes what they give them and run the ball. Elder will have trouble moving the ball consistently. I am hoping Elder can avoid the running clock this week.
 
 
Let's hope the refs get the DJ that Barret Cohen hires under control this week. 2 years ago was a circus at Nippert. Call it sour grapes since Elder got down early and it was over after the 1st quarter, but have some respect.
 
Bad matchup for Elder. The Elder D is very good, but the one weakness is the Corners in coverage. I think Moe wins by 3-4 TDs.
 
Elder freshman Fortkamp got playing time during the St X game because of injury. He is likely to get even more this week and could start.

Has Elder ever had a freshman get legit playing time (not special teams) on varsity as a freshman?

Cohen is an absolute clown show. He does realize he graduated for high school a long time ago or maybe he is still working to get his GED

Maddox Arnold was starting at the end of his freshman season.

What number is Fortkamp?

I knew his was playing as part of the rotation, didn’t realize it was DL. McPherson has played well at ILB. There’s so many talented young players already playing big roles for this team. This isn’t necessarily a rebuilding year for Elder, bc this team is better than that, but there’s also good reason to be optimistic about the next few seasons.

That’s really lame to get upset over, especially when it had no impact on the game. Flat out, Elder couldn’t stop Marshall or Weider, and they fumbled on 3 straight plays, including back to back kickoffs.
