Should be an active thread this week as the Tarblooders and the Cougars battle for a trip to the regional final. Glenville is coming off a hard fought victory over West Branch 13-0. Lake had to play on the road once again this week, but had no issues defeating the Falcons of Field 35-3. Glenville has been the favorite to win DIV since the preseason. Don’t see it being any different now. Hopefully the Cougars can keep it close and we see a competitive game this Friday night.

Lake Catholic and Glenville have played 1 time with the Tarblooders holding a 1-0 advantage in the series. Glenville defeated Lake 34-0 back in week 4 of the 2021 season.

This will be a great game. Willoughby South maybe?

What a great ballgame. And I hesitate to do this to LC, but I like them to win....which is probably the kiss of death. For example, I thought my Vikings would beat Ursuline last night.....

Best of luck to both teams. I hope that the winner of this game wins State.

This is a very winnable game for Lake. Glenville is very talented but very young. I also give the coaching advantage to Lake Catholic. Being as young and inexperienced as Glenville is mistakes will be made. Lake will be the more disciplined team. I like Lake in a four quarter battle that comes down to last four minutes of game.

That or Euclid, I feel OHSAA compensates for demand when picking locations, this is one of the most anticipated games of the week and Euclid venue would fit well.
I don’t think it will be at Euclid. I heard they didn’t put in to host playoff games this year.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has seen both Lake and Glenville play how they see the individual match-ups, i.e., Lake's O line vs Glenville's D line, vice versa, etc. I do agree with another poster's comment that each team has to play a flawless game on both sides of the ball. One missed tackle, one blown coverage might make the difference. I do think if it comes down to field goal, Lake has an advantage. Their kicker has been great on FGs/XPs.

O great thanks mcgarry72! My predictions were way off last Friday as well.

This is going to be a tough matchup for Lake. I think a big key will be if the Cougars can establish the run game. They did not run the ball well last week against Field. The offensive line will obviously be key. If Trinetti has no time to throw, it’s going to be a rough night.

Defensively, Lake has been lights out at times. Like wick mentioned, it’s imperative they are not missing assignments and missing tackles. You can’t make those type of mistakes against a team like Glenville. The Tarblooders will be bigger upfront and faster, but the I do believe the Lake defense can keep them in this game.

Some people may disagree, but I’m more concerned about the offensive side of the ball this week for Lake than the defense. Wasn’t West Branch a high scoring offense?

Article in the Canton Rep said West Branch all time rusher (Mullinix) was injured during the game. They moved their QB to running back and brought in the back up QB. The same article also said Mullinix had 9 carries for 90 yards prior to the injury. The article also said West Branch as a team had 21 carries for 62 yards. So, either they messed up the stats or West Branch as a team had 12 carries for negative 28 yards outside of Mullinix. Also stated WB as a team completed 11 passes for 66 yards ( they didn't say attempts)
Glenville had 127 via ground and 133 passing

About WB offense- yeah they scored a lot of points against mostly bad defenses. But they were 0-0 halftime against 3 win Chaney and losing at half 7-6 to 3 win Salem. Very good offense, but a little fools gold.
With only 10 seniors listed for Glenville this appears to be the best year to beat team. If they're still in region 13 next year it may get UGLY
