• I've been getting complaints about the number of advertisements on the site and I am looking into it. Unfortunately, the way the system works, every user gets a different set of advertisements. I haven't re-created it on my computer but have gotten screen shots from others that are way over the top. Something is going to need to change. I'll have something up tonight to work on this and really need help from everyone. There has to be an alternative to using a catch-all ad service like Yappi.com is using now. This is a serious issue as the current system cannot keep going the way that it is. Way too many ads and not enough money being generated is leading to a bad outcome.

Week 13 - Division 2 Region 5 Semifinal - Holy War 2.0 - Hoban (11-1) vs SVSM (8-3)

I think it was 6 PP.

Oof.
Another crazy stat from that first game: Penalties…

Hoban - 19 for 180 yds
StVM 6 for 55

Not saying the fouls weren’t warranted or legit, but it’s an indicator that Hoban was sloppy with infractions while the Irish couldn’t take care of the football. Hoping both squads will clean those miscues up this time, because round one was ugly all around.

The atmosphere for this game should be awesome. Agree with Brian, let's hope both sides clean things up so this game is just about execution and who wants it more.

Does anyone know if the game will be broadcasted or live streamed?

Definitely excited for this rematch! The football gods want the Akron Holy War to continue!!

One thing is for sure, what a turnaround by Terry Cistone and his staff. Who would've thought the Irish would be in the regional semis at the beginning of this year in D2. Hoping this is just the beginning for the green and gold!
Bullseye, JIT.

Oh make no mistake, I will be pulling HARD for the Irish on Friday night. I would love for them to pull the upset that would be the shot heard all over the State of Ohio High School Football universe. But i need to stay close to reality as well.

There are things that the Irish can control on Friday, and things they can't.

The talent on Hoban's roster is something they cannot control. The game plan coming from Hoban's coaches is also something they cannot control. How the game is officiated is beyond either team's control.

What the Irish can control is how they prepare for this game. Stay focused in practice, listen to your coaches, get proper nutrition, and get the proper amount of rest prior to the game.

They can control their attitude in this game. A lot of success starts above the shoulders.

Give this game the effort and respect it deserves. Play hard, but play under control.

Lastly, you can control how well you execute your game plan. Do you best to eliminate silly penalties and especially turnovers.

Let the best team on Friday night win.

Coach Cistone has to be commended for the quantum leap forward this team took this season. Still a lot of work to do, but the future is bright.

The forecast for Friday night looks more miserable every hour that goes by. It's too bad, will definitely affect the turnout and the quality of the game. Whoever can run the ball better and hang on to it probably wins.

You almost make it sound like the teams are evenly matched (which they aren’t.). Will the weather be the great equalizer?

If the weather reduces the offenses to being completely one dimensional, it definitely evens the game out. STV is physical enough and runs the ball more than well enough, they might be able to wait the game out and put themselves in position in the 4th qtr.

Supposed to be raining cats and dogs during the day (calling for 1" to 2" of rain - yikes) then let up right around game time.

Game is being streamed on ohsaa.tv.

Didn't say if it is a free stream. Boxcast is involved - so I am guessing not.

Does anyone else find it odd that the Buchtel- West Branch thread has nearly 6 full pages of posts while the Holy War doesn't have 2 full pages? Has the rivalry lost some of its luster?

I’d wager that an Irish win tomorrow would restore a lot of the banter and vitriol on this board (if and when the teams play again) that used to accompany this match-up. It’s trailed off considerably since about 2017. Hoping for a fun one tomorrow!

Good luck to anyone going tonight. Hope you stay relatively dry and enjoy the game.

Me? I am playing the "old" card and staying home.

Aka - I put my time in...... When my daughter was a freshman at SVSM in the fall of 2000 and in the marching band, I remember vividly sitting in the stands at Green Street in the middle of a monsoon. Game was in the early 4th qtr - Irish up 41-0 against Y'town Rayen IIRC.....

We had to stay as we were assigned chaperone duties that night.................

Ahh, the memories...........

Let's go Hoban! Please show up intense and ready to roll. My heart cannot take the slow starts. I.e. like it seems the last 4 years plays Walsh.
Should be a good game the Irish will definitely be up for this one. Stay dry anyone going. I will think of you as I sit in my recliner and yell at the TV!
