Harbin Watch
From a Harbin standpoint StX is the #2 seed in Region 4, win or lose this game.
If they beat ELCA they have a chance to be the #1 seed if Moeller loses to King
and then 2 of the following 3 things happen......
Hoban beats St. Eds, Portsmouth beats Ironton, Alter beats Chaminade
and Moeller will finish less than 32.

Here is the math.....
StX beats ELCA finish with Harbin total of 32.0
StX loses to ELCA finish with a Harbin total of 30.3
none of the other teams in region 4 can eclipse 30.3 so even with a loss StX retains the #2 seed

Harbin Region 4 Current Standings for Top 6 (after Week 9)
Moeller (7-2) 30.2; King (5-1)
StX (7-2) 27.7; ELCA (2-5)
Lakota West (7-1) 23.5; Lakota East (7-2) win finish @29
Princeton (8-1) 21.4; Colerain (5-4) win finish @26
Lakota East (7-2) 18.3; Lakota West (7-1) win finish @24
Milford (5-4) 15.6; West Clermont (2-7) win finish @19

What is your predicted outcome for X v ELCA?

Looks like Cam Collins is doubtful for ELCA and senior night so we'll likely see junior Rob Fogler.
The good new is the Bombers will be back on Ballaban Field next weekend to host a 1st round game against either West Clermont, Oak Hills or Hamilton.
Hopefully Cam will be back for the playoffs.

I watched ELCA clobber previously unbeaten Pacelli 41-0 last Friday.
Their defense reminded me of the 2010 Good Counsel defense that shutdown X 21-6 live on ESPN from Ballaban Field

That defense was loaded (all D1 players, 4 NFL) and smothering.......
DL Rod Chungong (Georgia Tech)
DL Ryan Watson (Purdue)
DL Joe Rosenblatt (Maryland)
DL Vincent Croce (Virginia)
LB Michael Nicastro (UAlbany)
LB Michael Jefferson (West Liberty Univ)
#6 LB Dorian O'Daniel (Chiefs)
#1 FS Stefon Diggs (Vikings/Bills)
#3 SS Wes Brown (Maryland)
#2 CB Blake Countess (Rams/Eagles)
#5 CB Kendall Fuller (Chiefs)

They held X to 9 first downs and 211 total yards and forced 6 turnovers (4 INTs and 2 fumbles)
Stefon Diggs had one of the best individual performances I've ever seen.
Diggs (FS/WR): 5 catches for 91 yards, 1 forced fumble, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions for 50 yards and 1 TD and 5 solo tackles

Offensively ELCA constantly ran behind the 2 monsters RG DJ Chester 6'5" 300lb and RT Zech Owens 6'7" 350lb.
LG (Austin Smith 5'10" 220lb) would pull each play and follow the two behemoths.
Following him to the hole would be fullback (Trent Hood 5'10" 180lb) paving the way for twin brother RB Brandon Hood.
That's a lot of beef coming Marque Cummings way tomorrow night.
Should be an entertaining final regular season game.
Let's hope the Bombers are ready to bounce back and get some momentum heading into the playoffs

GO X!

X won and Moeller lost but it looks like only 1 of the 3 other games will go the Bombers way it will be close but if my math was correct X will fall a little short and get the 2 seed

It's the 80-20 rule this year
80% of the time X in a blowout or 20% of the time X's opponent in a nail biter
7 out of 10 games turbo clock
2 nail biting 1 score losses (33-32 and 28-21)
1 outlier....17 point win over LW in the opener

5 Game Observations

1. ELCA's sophomore RB Brandon Hood was very good. If ELCA had a QB who could get the ball into the hands of the several playmakers like Johnson, Basco and Hugley this could have been a different game.

2. Fogler did a solid job at RT in for Collins. He's such a bid SOB. Nice to have a 6'7" 308lb backup.

3. Defensively StX flipped Cummings and Buerkle so that Buerkle was taking on the huge side of the ELCA OLine

4. After the mild disappearance of Kellom in the previous game in Strongsville, Coverdale and the StX offense made a very loud statement that Charles is back and is very much a large part of the offense: Kellom: 253 yards total offense and 3 TDs (17 carries for 131 yards and 1 TD and 8 receptions for 122 yards and 2 TDs

5. Mason Rohmiller put X on top 6-0 with a pair of FGs from 40 and 41 yards out. He added a 29 yarder in the 3rd quarter. The 3 FGs matched the number he had made for the entire season. When 7 of your 10 games are turbo clockers a FG is not needed. Would have liked to have seen him get a shot at a game winner vs Trinity. That was the only regular season game he could have been a difference maker. If the Bombers don't steam roll their way through region 4 he may get his shot. Looks like the R4 path goes Hamilton-Elder-Lakota West-Moeller.

Harbin Region 4 Current Standings for Top 6 (after Week 9)
Moeller (7-2) 30.2; King (5-1)
StX (7-2) 27.7; ELCA (2-5)
Lakota West (7-1) 23.5; Lakota East (7-2) win finish @29
Princeton (8-1) 21.4; Colerain (5-4) win finish @26
Lakota East (7-2) 18.3; Lakota West (7-1) win finish @24
Milford (5-4) 15.6; West Clermont (2-7) win finish @19
A lot of Week 10 games went Lakota West's way and they finished with a Harbin total of 31.065, just 0.18 points shy of overtaking X for the #3 seed.

Totals: 190 points (18 for 23 FGs 78%, 136 for 137 PATs 99%)

StX All Time Leading Place Kicker and recent Hall of Fame inductee
Danny Milligan (2005-2007)

2007: 91 points (13 for 20 FGs 65%, 52 for 54 PATs 96%)
2006: 76 points (15 for 20 FGs 75%, 31 for 32 PATs 97%)
2005: 81 points (12 for 15 FGs 80%, 45 for 47 PATs 96%)
Totals: 248 points (40 for 55 FGs 73%, 128 for 133 PATs 96%)
Rohmiller ECLA game stats: 3 for 4 on FG, 5 for 5 PATs. The missed FG was a 50+ throw away.
So his 2021 stats are 72 points (6 for 7 FGs 85%, 54 for 55 PATS 98%)
Career Totals: 204 points (21 for 27 FGs 78%, 141 for 142 PATs 99%)
Just amazing stats and a deep playoff run with a lot of Bomber offense could give him a chance to account for 45 more points to eclipse Milligan's school record for career scoring by a place kicker
