Walsh Jesuit vs. Archbishop Hoban

The game had nothing to do with quality of schedule.
Hoban was tired of hearing how great WJ is.
The coaching staff was tired of hearing how great the WJ staff is.
They had an off week and an extra week to prepare and have scouted them heavily.
Finally, WJ was their mum week game because their chief rival ducked them. Those familiar with Hoban know the importance of mum week.

Walsh didn't stand a chance last Friday night no matter who they played previously.
I think this is the right stance. Hoban with a week off and motivated is a daunting task. Also Hoban should never be the bar used for measuring a program's improvement

I bet Walsh wishes they had St. Ignatius on the schedule the past couple of years...would have been a great shot to get a couple wins over their Jesuit brothers to the north....they really should add Iggy to future schedules ASAP

I don't know why all kinds of schools aren't scrambling to add Ignatius. One might think that Ignatius would be open to any and all offers.

True....they could add a bunch more Ohio schools to their schedule now (and lock them in for a home-and-home the next 2 seasons)....maybe wouldn't have to play any out of state or Canadian teams to fill a schedule like in years past...certainly would ensure larger gates for their home games (and what school doesn't like extra ticket revenue?).

Agreed that WJ should add Ed's or Ignatius especially with the new playoff rules. However, Hoban and Walsh's schedules are more comparable than one would think. WJ could've been 5-0 playing Hoban's schedule.

Fredrick Douglass (2-3) has 1 quality win against Trinity (Louisville, KY).
Cath Prep (2-3) beat Canisius (2-3) by 11 (a team WJ beat by 27) and went to 6 OTs to a St. Francis (1-4) a team Hoban will beat soundly in 9 days.
Trinity Episcopal has 3 victories over teams with combined ZERO wins.
East's (6-1) schedule would be laughed at if Hoban picked up any of their opponents.
Ignatius (1-6) another team with tradition having a down year period like Benedictine or STVM.

You already agreed with OFB76 and said WJ is average. That leaves Glenville and Ed's as their only two quality opponents.

All week everyone said it was a 1-2 score game. Hoban strength of schedule #1 in D2 and saying Walsh is 5-0 with Hoban's schedule is pure conjecture. Yea Hoban was up for game, don't you think WJ was as well? We will see if Hoban is for real tomorrow night and against Ed's for sure. I think they are playing at a very high level right now and beginning to build steam for the playoff run. Also Hoban LB just picked up an offer from The Ohio State University.

Part of Hoban's # 1 SOS ranking is due to the fact that WJ is ranked #16. So along with Ed's (ranked #5) and Glenville (ranked #39) WJ is a reason they sit at # 1. To say they are garbage in one post, yet cite the SOS where they contribute to Hoban's being #1 is taking both sides. Yeah some were wrong in predicting a close game but there are just as many people who are wrong saying that WJ isn't any better than the have been in the past 5 years or so. I have seen very talented Hoban teams sleepwalk through 2-3 quarters of games with WJ teams with 25% of what they have now. As I said previously this was a statement game, one that Hoban was sending a message to WJ, STVM and all the other teams in R5 and D2. Neither teams schedule had anything to do with it.

We will know in 9 weeks where this Hoban team will rank among their previous state title teams if they finish job. As of today the only teams that have any chance to beat them are Massillon and Avon.

I didn't say they were garbage, I said their schedule was weak as compared to say Hoban, Massillon or Avon. I agree with your last sentence that 1 of those 3 teams will win it all, I tend to think Hoban or Massillon but injuries and a little luck will play into that. Walsh is a good D2 program and will probably go 10-1 or 10-2. Respectable. That's better than they were for sure. Just not at the elite level yet

DE Bell Committed to Miami OH
DT Pritchard-Sewell committed to Holy Cross
LB R Williams committed to WV,
LB Lee ‘25 with offers from WV and Iowa State

Greer is still playing but recovering from injury.
Lee was offered by OSU yesterday. That's now 3 kids that have OSU offers, 2 of them on defense.

Walsh has had 1 quality win in the past 3 years.... Thats Hudson in the playoffs in 2021. Ill check in periodically for anyone that wants to argue another quality win since 2021.
