Walsh Jesuit 2025

Walsh Jesuit played against Troy out of the Dayton area on Saturday afternoon in Canton. Shawn Sullivan had a very impressive pitching performance, striking out 11 batters on the day.

Walsh plays Valley Forge in their opening playoff game. Valley Forge is 3-16 and has lost their last 13 games. Almost half of them were by run rule.
My guess is they’ll start another pitcher for that game and save Sullivan for the next game 2 days later.

The District Meet starts tomorrow for track. Walsh moves over to the Hoover District with the Federal League teams.
The boys team will probably finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th. They have an outside chance to win if everything falls into place.

They are a deep team without any weak events but they don’t have the top level athletes to do well at the State Meet.

I’ll have to verify this with a deep dive and extensive research before any such accolades or counts, can be verified for comparison sake.
Im calling around to see if I can dig up any flaws in the scouting report. Stay tuned.

Boys Lacrosse avenged an earlier loss to Highland and beat the Hornets 13-4 yesterday. They play #6 seeded Toledo St Francis DeSales on May 27 at home in the Regional Semifinals. They are 14-4.

The Warrior track teams are at the Hoover District. The boys are doing well.
They are currently in 8th Place after 3 events with 7 points, trailing the 7 Federal League teams. Glen Oak leads with 23, followed by Green with 16.

The good news is that Walsh has 2 finalists in the 100, 200, 400, 800, and 110 Hurdles. Their 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 relays also easily qualified for the finals tomorrow.

Looks like it will come down to WJ, Hoover, Perry, and Glen Oak. I think Hoover will win and hope Walsh can move up to 2nd.

Boys track team did well at the Hoover District. They came in 3rd just 1.5 points behind 1st. Warriors had 9 Regional qualifiers: 110H, 300H, 200, 400, 400, 4x1, 4x4, 4x8, and Shot Put.
Girls had qualifiers in the Long Jump and High Jump.

They both compete at the Austintown Regionals starting on Wednesday.

Good luck! Not demeaning Walsh here at all - but you got one heck of a favorable draw. I think the top seeds were all trying to avoid having to face Sullivan until the final 4 or championship game. Whoever comes out of region 6 will certainly be battle tested.

Softball won Districts on Saturday, their 4th District Title in a row. They’ve been dealing with injuries but have been winning ugly so far. Things get tougher on Wednesday when they play 19-5 North Ridgeville in the Regional Semifinals,

Baseball plays Valley Forge today. Shawn Sullivan (Alabama commit and #2 player in OH for ‘26) pitched a few innings on Saturday so my guess is that he won’t start today’s game.

Walsh needs a favorable draw! It'll be interesting how far they go this year. Been up and down all year. They need to cut down on the errors and have a pitcher step up outside of Sullivan. Two solid pitchers can give you a deep playoff run.

Yep. Like Twinsburg last year. And maybe again this year.

No offense taken at all. The draw is very favorable but it only takes one bad inning to ruin a season.

Walsh beat US on Saturday 4-2. I saw that the Preppers had a team BA of over .350. Walsh’s is about .255. That kind of hitting likely won’t get it done against the tougher playoff teams.

Boys Lacrosse beats St Francis DeSales to advance to the Regional Finals on Thursday against the winner of Rocky River and Olmsted Falls. This will be a very tough game.

Forgot to mention that Girls Lacrosse plays #1 seed Rocky River in the Regional Semifinals tomorrow.

Softball lost a tough one to #6 ranked North Ridgeville, 7-5. Warriors finish the season 16-2. They return 5 starters including their #1 pitcher.

Girls Lacrosse goes on the road to upset #1 seed Rocky River in the Regional Semifinals.
Their next game is on Friday in the Regional Finals against Bay.

Baseball beats Perry 3-1 to win Districts and move to 17-7.
Shawn Sullivan (Alabama commit) was fantastic again for the win.
Here's his line: 6 innings, 1R, 0 ER, 10 K, 4 H, 2 BB
Anthony Alberty pitched a 1-2-3 7th for the save.

What are your thoughts in the region next week? Don't sleep on Hoover. If Sullivan doesn't pitch in that one, you could get upset. Hoover is a solid team. They will capitalize if your other starters aren't throwing strikes.

Walsh plays next on Wednesday against the winner of today’s Stow vs Austintown Fitch game. The winner on Wednesday would play either Hoover or Lakewood. I could see either of those two winning and either one could upset the Warriors.

I think Walsh will probably pitch Sullivan on Wednesday then if they win pitch Harper Lann the next day. Luckily their bullpen has recovered from their midseason slump and is pitching much better with a 4 reliever rotation of Nathan Bonus, Anthony Alberty, Andrew Przybys, and Josh Pierson. All 4 are seniors.

The hitters need to step it up though. They have not been capitalizing on far too many situations with runners on 3rd and less than 2 outs. Teams have been intentionally walking Matthew Mansbery more frequently (2 in the Perry game alone).
